Hi teammates and welcome!I'm Laura, your captain and looking forward to playing Wheel a thon again! I hail from Nova Scotia, Canada and love books and reading. I will read anything but love mysteries, historical fiction and YA.
I am currently reading the Stephanie Plum series, the Undead Series and Walt Longmire Series.
When you get a chance could you please link your wheel a thon bookshelf.
Hey teamies!Looking forward to playing again as well. I love team challenges!
Looks like I'm the only one not in North America. I'm from Israel (GMT+2) and teach English lit at a local college.
I'm an eclectic reader, but my preference is for anything with a good romance. I read mysteries and thrillers, romantic suspense, historical romance, PNR and UF with the occasional historical mystery or fiction book thrown in.
My challenge shelf is 2015-wheel-a-thon-ii
Hi team!I'm so excited for this challenge to begin! I read a little bit of everything but mostly mysteries and romance.
I'm in Hawaii.
My challenge shelf is team-challenges
Laura wrote: "Hi Lauren! Have you tried the Stephanie Plum series?"Not yet. I'm pretty new to the cozy mystery scene. I've read the entire Lily Bard series by Charlaine Harris and started the Bibliophile series by Kate Carlisle and the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters (this one is also historical mystery).
I've got Plum on my radar though.

I have read Harris's Sookie series but not the Lily Bard series. I may have to check it out!
Plum.. is an easy read. I'm on book 4 and I 've found each of them very funny at times! I would definitely recommend just for the laugh out loud factor!!
I can't wait to get started! Our colour is listed on the spreadsheet.. (cerulean)I have some c's, u's and e's lined up to read:)
Hey team, my name is Alex and judging by your names I am your resident knuckle dragging male. I have fallen in love with this group after my involvement with the Novel RPG game. This is my first group challenge and I am excited to participate.I have gotten into fantasy novels very heavy as of late, but will read just about anything save for YA or Chick Lit. I am working through Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series, each of which are ginormous. The first book is the shortest in the series at a hefty 666 pages. I am trying to read one the Malazan books as well as one of Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere books per month and for the challenge adding in a small book per week.
I am from South Carolina

yikes..lol.. Maria Helena can you make a new shelf for us specifically for wheel a thon?
I finished
last month and will move on to the second book if I ever finish this month's Malazan book.I want to get into some more mystery books so I may seek recommendations as we progress through the challenge.

I love to give and receive book recommendations:) Here is your first!
Walt Longmire Series
book 1 is The Cold Dish
Johnson is a terrific writer, he had great character development, humour and a good mystery!
I am currently waiting for Junkyard Dogs (#6) to come in from the library and have the next 3 sitting on my table:)
Hey Teamies!I'm Becky from Oklahoma and this is my second round of Wheel-a-thon. I'm so excited to see so many mystery fans! I'm a HUGE fan of the Longmire series and currently reading As The Crow Flies. Craig Johnson is a master storyteller.
I'm (still) on a big Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance kick, but my future reading plans involve crime series by James Patterson, William Kent Krueger, Steve Hamilton and C.J. Box. I'll read most fiction genres, but I'm not crazy about YA and avoid erotica.
Here's my shelf: Wheel-a-thon-2
I'm looking forward to the challenge and getting to know all of you!
Alex wrote: "... I want to get into some more mystery books so I may seek recommendations as we progress through the challenge. "Mystery is my favourite genre. I recently started reading the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French and it is amazing. Peter Robinson and Reginald Hill also writes really good mysteries.
My absolute favourites are Nordic crime. Some authors I highly recommend are Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Carin Gerhardsen, Mons Kallentoft, and Mari Jungstedt.
Laura wrote: "I am currently waiting for Junkyard Dogs (#6) to come in from the library and have the next 3 sitting on my table:) ."Junkyard Dogs is my favorite of the series! You'll LOVE it!
Best. First. Chapter. EVER.
Laura wrote: "I can't wait to get started! Our colour is listed on the spreadsheet.. (cerulean)I have some c's, u's and e's lined up to read:)"I'm sure I'll be able to find books for every letter.
maria helena wrote: "I recently started reading the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French and it is amazing"I read the first book in that series and loved it up until the halfway mark when the main character did something that ruined the rest of the book for me. I'm considering continuing with the series because I know its a different main character but I'm wary of a repeat of the first :0(

I read the Dublin Series and loved it Maria Helena!
Have you read the Department Q series? (graphic and violent so not for everyone!)

Welcome Becky! I knew your name was familiar.. I remember chatting with you in the Longmire series thread! I can't wait to read it. Having the next 3 books just sitting here is driving me a little crazy, but I want to read them in order! Hopefully Monday or Thursday it will come in.

The other books aren't the same Lauren and you don't have to necessarily read them in order. I started out of order and I didn't miss anything. Broken Harbour and The Secret Place were very good!

It took me until the end of the first book to realize that who you thought was the main character isn't actually the main character of the series. I was very frustrated with that event to. The second book is so good! You should definitely give it a chance.
Laura wrote: "The other books aren't the same Lauren and you don't have to necessarily read them in order. I started out of order and I didn't miss anything. Broken Harbour and The Secret Place were very good! "Thats good to know. Thanks Laura.
I will probably read them in order anyway because I'm a bot OCD in that area :0)
maria helena wrote: "The second book is so good! You should definitely give it a chance. "OK, I'm convinced. I'm adding it to my TBR.
Something tells me this group is NOT going to help me whittle down my to-read shelf, lol!
I may start this challenge without the help of the library since I still have three overdue books out, and I don't feel like paying just yet. Luckily I have a number of unread books on my own bookshelf. Thanks for the recommendations. I may try some of them later in the challenge.

I have not, but I will have to check it out.
Hi everyone! I'm Amanda and I am from South Carolina. This is my first Wheel-A-Thon challenge but I have participated in several other team challenges in this group. I will read just about anything but a few of my favorite genres are Romance, Mystery, Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy and YA. Laura, I love the Stephanie Plum series and cannot wait for the next book in November. Please let me know what you need my help with as co-captain. I will be glad to help!
I have not heard of the Walt Longmire series, but I will check it out.
Here is my shelf: wheel-a-thon
Hey Laura! I thought we've crossed paths before. Great to see you here!So many new books to look into already! My TBR better loosen it's belt a notch!
Laura wrote: "Have you read the Department Q series? (graphic and violent so not for everyone!) "
Is it any more graphic than Karin Slaughter's Grant County series? Loved the police investigation and the mystery, but the violence was brutal. I can't read them back to back or I'll give myself nightmares.
Alex wrote: "I may start this challenge without the help of the library since I still have three overdue books out, and I don't feel like paying just yet. Luckily I have a number of unread books on my own books..."I'd be in dire poverty without our local library! Do you read ebooks at all? I know some people prefer the feel of a book in their hands. I use a Nook because it's easier on my eyes. The library's Overdrive app has been a lifesaver for me since it's difficult to make the trip across town. They automatically return when the date rolls around.

I am one that prefers the feel of a real book plus I can read a real book at work but am not allowed to use any electronic device. My biggest issue with the library is that I like to check out too many books at one time and then let the due date slip up on me. Limiting myself to checking out a max of two books would be a great idea.

I don't think that I 've read the Grant County Series.
I like the Department Q series for exactly what you said.. the police investigation and the mystery. The books are written by Jussi Alder- Olsen. I have the 5th one waiting on the back of the couch for me:) The Marco Effect
Here is what I am currently reading
Four to Score The Stranger You Seek Attachments
Next up will be The Marco Effect and China Dolls
Quick question for the captains...Is there any particular way you want us to post our books? I know we need to post name/author/pages and how it fits, but do you want us to list all the letter options that fit our weekly color? Last round we did it something like this:
by Kim Harrison
Title: A
(nothing for Author)
Series: "R" - Rachel Morgan/The Hollows
Characters: R-Rachel, N-Nick, C-Ceri, etc.
It helped our captain when she needed to fit books with fewer options into our spreadsheet, or shuffle things at the last minute for the most points.
Absolutely Becky! I think that would be most helpful. I think that is what our team did last summer as well.
Kathleen wrote: "*peeks in* Hi Lauren! Can I transfer to this group now? ;)"lol.. I thought I recognized you Lauren from Tower Teams. I couldn't recall if you were from the Thunder Cats or the Chickadees!
I also prefer the feel of a real book, but ebooks are a lifesaver on long trips. I've just recently started listening to audiobooks which is great. I get an extra hour of reading while walking to and from campus everyday.
Oh wow! Laura, those look like good books!I didn't realize The Keeper of Lost Causes was the first book in the Department Q series! It was recommended to me a few weeks ago and I was told it's "super intense!" Sounds like my kind of book. I tend to be an action junkie...
Grant County is also intense, but I always warn people about the violence. The first two books have been about sexual assaults.
