Sorry for being quiet - I’m in the last few weeks of deadline for book 3!!!

Which I’m very excited about.

As a result, I’ve not been reading much.

However, I am making headway through Heart of the Sun Warrior - which is very good

I’m also reading A Sword of Bronze and Ashes by Anna Smith Spark.

What is everyone else reading?

I'm not calling the police, but we'll see when the third book comes out... ;)

Now that I've finished a certain book by a certain author, I've started the ARC of "Her Radiant Curse" by Elizabeth Lim, which is the prequel to her duology "Six Crimson Cranes". I read it last year and I loved it.

I really want to read Six Crimson Cranes - is it a romantasy?

Yeah but it's not a romance book per se, it's a retelling of the fairy tale of the princess and her six swan brothers. It's set in a world that mixes several eastern Asian folklores and it's the journey of a young princess whose stepmother curses her six older brothers and turns them into cranes by day (men by night). The girl then starts her own silent journey to break the curse and have her brothers turn back into men again. It has romance, adventure, demons, dragons, a quest.
The first book can be read as a stand-alone, but the second book is another quest in the water dragons realm that unveil a lot of secrets about the stepmother though not all. The book I am reading now is the stepmother's full story before she married the girl's father.

Natasha (natashatsak) | 11 comments I'm reading Murder Your Employer by Rupert Holmes. It's my vacation read but I just started it -as well as the vacation! The Book That Wouldn't Burn was so good! I loved it. I'm thinking of waiting for the audiobook of Words of Kings, Shauna, what do you think? That way I'll know the pronunciation (but not the spelling!)
There'd better be more of a certain Viking we know ;)

Hi - yes the audiobook for book 2 is coming out the same day as the U.K. hardback and worldwide ebook (14th September). Aoife is amazing and pronounces everything right! So if you want to know how to say the names, you can’t go wrong with the audiobook!

I love Aoife's accent, I can't say she nails it because I'm not an expert, but I love her pronunciation and how she's so involved in the project, you can hear in her voice that she enjoys the books as much as we do.

Keith | 18 comments Currently reading The Armageddon Rag by George RR Martin, quite good.
Also Johnathon Strange and Mr Norell, excellent audiobook

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 23 comments I am halfway thru The Will of the Many by James Islington whose previous series I really enjoyed. Also listening to Ben Aaronovitch' s latest novella set in the Rivers of London world, Winter's Gifts. Big Fan of the Rivers of London series. Besides the main novels, Ben does little novellas involving minor characters from the novels plus a Comic Book collection that are not adaptations, but new stories that add to the series as a whole.

Ooh - I’ve been neglecting you all!

It’s because I missed my deadline and have been frantically trying to finish book 3! Which I now have!!! I finished this morning

I’ll set up an August reading thread now.

I loved Mr Strange - such an original book

And The Will of the Many is on my TBR. Did I hear it was Roman history inspired?

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 23 comments Is the Will of Many Roman History Inspired? Yes and No. Togas and tunics are worn, But mostly no, No historical stuff. Some Tech that is postindustrial. Finished it and loved it, Thought I was done with the 'Kids in School" trope, but this book does it right,
