Here we discuss The Tortoise and the Hare when reading it or planning to start, so please don't spoil it for those who haven't started it or can be not as far into the story as you are.

Robin P | 57 comments I read this a couple years ago. Unfortunately I rarely keep books after I read them, and I don’t remember details but I will try to chime in.

Marilyn I have to finish The Vicar's Daughter then I can start.

I will be joining reading in a few days too.

Who else is planning to read this book?

Tania | 65 comments I will try to fit in a re-read of this one. I remember very much enjoying it.

Abigail Moreshead I really want to read this, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get a copy. It doesn't appear that there's a Kindle version and my library doesn't have it. It looks like Abebooks has a pretty cheap copy, so I may order it there.

Tania | 65 comments The are copies on Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/tortoiseh...

Daniela Sorgente | 73 comments I can read it on Internet Archive 😃😃

Abigail Moreshead Thanks for the head’s up re: Internet Archive. I prefer not to read on a screen (unless it’s my kindle) unless I have to so I went ahead and ordered the book on Abebooks. Will be starting it in a few days when it arrives!

Daniela Sorgente | 73 comments I am reading it and it is breaking my heart. I will finish today.

Antoinette | 22 comments I’ll be starting it after my current read. Looking forward to it!

Antoinette | 22 comments Hilary Mantel compared Elizabeth Jenkins to Jane Austen. Did anyone notice the similarity to Sense and Sensibility on p. 19. This line is in regards to Zenobia. “ Her passionate nature and her extreme sensibility to anything which concerned herself, laid her open to unmitigated sufferings and gave her entire existence a colouring of high tragedy. “ It probably helps that I just read Sense and Sensibility before this book, but that line of course made me think of Marianne.

An interesting point. I haven't seen it while reading.

That is exactly where I read it a couple of years ago.

Abigail Moreshead I started a few days ago and am about 50 pages in. Really enjoying Jenkins’s writing style and very interests to see how Imogen and Evelyn’s relationship changes and develops.
