TWO POINT TASKS

2.1 THE LOTTERY

GO to THE LOTTERY for details.
This is a time-limited task.

2.2 MORE JULY HOLIDAYS

2. National Day of the Cowboy
Read a book with the Main Page Genre (MPG): WESTERNS -OR- a cowboy on the cover (Show cover).

2.3 (Pat task) July 4 Celebration in America!

The fourth of July is a big day for Americans, as we celebrate our putting on our big-boy pants and successful declaring our independence from the parenthood of Mother England. Celebrate by reading three books.

1. July 4 ~ Read a book with a 4 in the page count or publication year

2. Freedom ~ Declare your independence from a rigid task by selecting whatever book you want to read just because you want to read it.

2.4 (Mickslibrarian task) Ruby, White, and Cobalt?
Read 2 Books

As a kid, I was fascinated by the 96 box of crayola crayons - I even remember when they had a contest for new colors - I entered, but didn't win (although I have no idea what my suggestions were). Even now, when describing colors, I tend to avoid the basic colors in favor of more specific and illustrative shades. So I challenge you to do likewise.

Book 1: Read a book with a synonym for "RED" in the title or author. *The word must have a color definition in the dictionary. For instance, the word WINE would work (a dark red), but BERRY would not (no color definition). Ex. Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon ; The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne ; Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim ; The Storyteller's Secret: How the World's Most Inspiring Leaders Turn Their Passion Into Performance by Carmine Gallo.

Book 2: Read a book with a synonym for "BLUE" in the title or author. *The word must have a color definition in the dictionary. For instance, the word NAVY would work (a dark grayish, purplish blue), but SKY would not (no color definition). Ex. Fullness: A Memoir by Azure Moyna; Push by Sapphire; The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune ; Indigo Dying by Susan Wittig Albert.

****BONUS****If nobody else uses the same word as you, you get a point for each book, meaning you can get one or two extra points.

THREE POINT TASK

3.1 (Linda's task) Vacation
Read 3 Books
July is a big month for vacations/stay-cations. Let's honor that time off.

1. Read a book set in a location where you would like to vacation but never have. Tell us the location.

2. Read a book set in a location where you have been before and would like to go again. Tell us where.

3. Read a book where the MC takes a day/few days off for some reason – some examples: out of town wedding, weekend biking/hiking/camping, visit a spa, attend a hobby workshop or class, visits out of town family – just needs to be time away from job or regular routine – tell us what
3.2 (Pat task) More July 4 Celebration Shenanigans

Three things are required for a proper July 4 Celebration in the U. S. of A.

1. A parade down small town America's main streets.
Read a book with all the letters of PARADE in the title, subtitle, and or author's name.

2. We eat BBQ, lots and lots of Bar-B-Que!
Read a book where food plays a prominent role (you are free to interpret this however you feel is appropriate)

3. Spectacular fireworks displays by the local Fire Departments of our hometowns across the entire country. The night is filled with sizzles, booms, and magnificent light displays - and if we live outside the city limits, we've been known to shoot off our own fireworks in our backyards.
Read a book that has "spectacular" cover art. (Your opinion is what counts here.)

FIVE POINT TASK

5.1 THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER
Read 5 Books

Read 5 Books with the word SUMMER in its title.
e.g. It Happened One Summer, Billy Summers, 28 Summers, Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History, The Summer Wives
