Started! I have to return my borrow tomorrow (lol, rhymes) so I'm going to be burning through this baby...

Through Chapter 4. I love being back with Percy! And I love how this seems to pick up pretty close after the end of the main series--(view spoiler)[he's still got his Achilles' Blessing/Curse--though it's taken care of pretty quick. The story still shocks a lot of short laughs out of me frequently.

I love meeting Hazel & Frank!! They quickly become some of my favorites.

And the difference between the fauns & satyrs is interesting...

Aaand now, we meet the local political assholes.

But NICO IS BACK! Nico IS my favorite. Sorry Leo, you can be my #2 though. I LOVE Nico. (hide spoiler)]

I am a bit annoyed still at the narrator's pronunciation of a few things. I don't know of any culture that says Gaea as Jee-ah... Latin, Greek, American English, and I'm assuming British English all say Guy-a...

Chapter 6--(view spoiler)[Getting Hazel's past is interesting--unraveling what happened to her is a fun mystery plotline in this book.

And they go to ALASKA, LOL. It's always amusing when book characters go to the place where you live... you get a good sense of if the author has ever actually been here or not. My guess is... not. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10--I like how we really get into our new folks's backstories... (view spoiler)[I like Frank a lot too--he seems like a big sweetie, and his third-generation Canadian-Chinese aspect is a fun combination.

BTW: 張 is Frank's last name. I wonder which "fei" is the name his grandmother calls him? My guess would be 飞: fly. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 12--more Roman/Greek differences--(view spoiler)[I love seeing the differences! Here, it's Mars v. Ares--Ares is an asshole, but Mars is a leader. Probably one of the biggest differences culturally--and also kind of like the difference between a soldier and a warrior. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 27--(view spoiler)[I like Ella--she's so sweet and shy... (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[It's so surreal, listening to the book describe taking a train to Seward--my dad loved Seward, and we would drive down there (and through Moose Pass--though I don't remember a sign saying "moose pass gas"... they did have a fudge store though.)

I liked the twist in the fight--"You're in Canada, bitch!" LOL

And the twist--on Sammy & Leo looking alike... Gaea did say that Sammy moved to Texas and had a family... Leo is is grandson, or great-grandson... (hide spoiler)]

In chapter 4 so far :) Interesting... Neptune and his children as sort of 'bad boys'... hmmm interesting.

LOL I like your "bad boys" description...

Up to chapter 25. Son of Mars, daughter of Pluto and Percy 😁. Great combo 😁. Plus Iris selling 'organic food' - brill!!!

I know! I love the new characters! I was just writing my review for this yesterday, and was thinking about why I like this one more than book 1, Lost Hero--and it's part that Hazel & Frank are just so cute, and part that Percy is the 3rd member!

And the Iris part totally cracked me up.

I'm also glad that you're feeling a little better!

I'm in the middle of chapter 37. Wow! So much happening. Shame about Frank's Nana. Interesting lady. Mars is definitely more sensible then Ares was.

But did you catch the cloud at the end of that chapter? After they left the house?

Dark one looks like a buzzard? I bet it was his Nana, going to Underworld her own way as she said 😁. Book finished 😀. I'm curious now if Annabeth will be a trouble as Hera/Juno saying...

Yeah, my impression was that she escaped!

We do get a lot more Annabeth in the next books! I mean, book three is called The Mark of Athena, so you know Athena's children will have a role.

I'm so glad you joined me Monika! I would've been sad to see this BR die out...

When we are reading next one?

They're all scheduled for the 15th of each month, so Book 3 is 15 December, book 4 15 January and so on. The last book is for February, and I haven't scheduled the next set of books after that yet... so we can see what schedule we want after that.

I'll try my hardest to keep my hands away from book 3 till December then :)

LOL I'm sure we've got plenty to distract you away from it! If you haven't been eyeing the A Deadly Education BR, I really recommend it!

Reading Under the whispering door at the moment. A Deadly Education is next on my list 😁
