3 chapters a day starting on July 7!

Chapters 1-3
(view spoiler)[The book isn't that bad--I like how headstrong the charcater is, but as of now this seems like a typical dystopian book--nothing has really stood out to me so far (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[[book could be worse... action coreography is not strong in this one. It has promise of maybe semi well written characters? They at least have some personality and things that make them unique..the way the character talks feels a bit bland to me. nothing in the story yet grabbed me and made me think this is going to be a fun ride yet. Got a taste of a slice of magic. I don't understand the book's magic system but it has one! ] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 3-6 (view spoiler)[[red ants under silver sunset. Most memorable part was this line in these chapters. The world building is extended a bit. Found out they have guns which shocked me a bit since they had gladiatorial battle early on with sword. And it acts futuristic. So confused what weapons are like. Are they like ours? Are they upgraded versions? And a person is capable of cloning in this. ] (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 3-6:
(view spoiler)[That's a really good point I never thought about! I wonder if this book is set in the future, or just an alternate world.
How do you feel about Cal?
I like Cal, but I'm not sure why he would go through all the trouble to get Mare a job at the palace. I feel like there's an ulterior motive.

Chapter 6-9 (view spoiler)[[best the book has gotten so far! The world finally feels together for the most part. Very descriptive how people dress, shows a bit changes of the different gladiatorial rings.get to see powers. The queenstrial is explained well.The characters are being closer to real people. Still confused about guns though. And found out that the mc has powers and was adopted!. No nitpicks from these chapters. ] (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6-9 (view spoiler)[It's getting better, though Mare wasn't actually adopted, that's just the story they're going with to convince everyone Mare is a Silver (she's actually a red).

One thing is bothering me though--I don't understand how Mare's story is reliable-- won't the Silver nobles wonder why Mare was unaware she had silver blood?? She must have scratched herself at least once in her 17 years... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[[think its just story where you just have to go with. It not going to make much sense if you think too much. And going to have plot hole after plot hole. Also in chapter 5 they rode in a transport that looked like a beast then labeled several beasts but didn't say what beast specifically that the transport looked like...] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 10-12:

(view spoiler)[Nothing much to say about the chapters...I don't like Evangeline at all, but something tells me she's going to play a very important role in the plot development. Also, I don't know if Mareena is going to end up with Cal or Maven. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10-12 (view spoiler)[[Mare is trying to blend in a little too late. They already seen that her skin isnt pale so i dont get why she had her skin painted pale after the fact...] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 13-15

(view spoiler)[Things are getting quite interesting...I want to know more about Julian. I feel very bad for Mare that her brother died.

However, I don't understand why Mare would join the Scarlet Guard when the queen can literally read her mind. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 16-18
(view spoiler)[Quite eventful chapters...Evangeline is terrifying and Mare faced a very close call, since her blood color almost got revealed to everyone! Luckily the princes were able to cover it up.

I'm sooo happy Maven joined the Scarlet Guard, but I hope he didn't just join to sabotage the Guard.

As for Cal, I have mixed feelings. I don't like his dialogue, but it's very brave of him to go fight the front lines

Only one thing really annoys me. The queen read Maven's mind...but she still didn't find out Maven's part of the Scarlet Guard?? So confused. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13-15 (view spoiler)[[I finally understand how magic works in this book. It just took this far into it. . Really likethey dynamic between mare and Julien] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 19-21
(view spoiler)[The book is getting pretty action-packed. I wonder who bombed the palace if it wasn't the Scarlet Guard?

I'm just genuinely annoyed Elara did not probe Mare's mind. She's a Red...in power. She was kidnapped from her home, and forced to be someone else. She's definitely a valid suspect. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 16-18 (view spoiler)[[action was alright. Besides the fights i didn't really remember anythng from the chapters.. ] (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 25-epilogue (sorry I couldn't resist I had to finish)
(view spoiler)[The last chapters definitely picked up the pace with Maven betraying them...I was kind of suspicious of Maven from the start but lost suspicion because he seemed perfect.

I feel so bad for Cal, I can't imagine what he's going through, being forced to kill his own father.

However, I am relieved Kilorn and Farley are alive. The revolution has begun!

Overall, this book was mediocre. Personally, it was a fun and quick read, and I will continue the series--however, it's not a favorite nor something I will reread anything soon. (hide spoiler)]
