I'll join in for this. It'll (hopefully) be a quiet week for me so I should get in a little more reading time.

destiny ♡ howling libraries (howlinglibraries) | 321 comments I looooved this book! I hope you all enjoy it :)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Hey Wendy! That’s great to hear Destiny! I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her so far.

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments I read this one earlier in the year, but I loved it (and pretty much everything I've read by her).

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her so far! My favorite is still The Twisted Ones. So far.

Welcome Morgan!

YES! I need to reread that one! (And Wylding Hall..... Next buddy read?) ;)

Wyrd Witch | 85 comments This book was incredible. I bought it on release day at work with my 30% discount and read the entire thing when I got home.

I cannot wait until you all finish it.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Woohoo!

WendyB | 5140 comments Mod
Being an older woman living in Arizona and who crochets doilies and tablecloths, how could I not chuckle a bit at some references to both in the first 10 pages? :)

This really feels like a book I'm going to like.

I just finished the book this weekend and loved it. It's very funny, with Kingfisher's typical dry wit. I hope you all enjoy!

Wyrd Witch | 85 comments Quick question: how many of the people in this thread have roses in their yard?

Lisa | 625 comments Wyrd wrote: "Quick question: how many of the people in this thread have roses in their yard?"

Many flowers of different kinds, but no roses. The bush my daughter bought for me a few years ago died :(

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I have roses. 4 but they aren’t anything fancy.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I got started on this today. Mom has just left for her job.

None here. Roses don't do well in the desert heat.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments At the cookout. (view spoiler)

I could be wrong but I have this suspicion Sam needs to be careful about what she says in the rose garden.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Oh! I didn’t catch that. I’m at the part about the graduation photo.

WendyB | 5140 comments Mod
About halfway through and some creepy stuff is happening.
I'm really liking this story and I'll be disappointed if the book doesn't show up in GR Choice Awards voting this year.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments The characters are so good!

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I’m on chapter 18- the 9th day
(view spoiler)

Same--I really think it deserves to.

...or anywhere in the whole place! I'm about halfway through, I'm digging the humor. Good characters too.

Of Butterflies & Books | 14 comments Started this yesterday, it’s interesting so far. Currently on The Third Day.

Finished. It's a quick read and lots of fun. Really enjoyed this one.
I'd love to read another book with Samantha as the main character. She was funny and had a quirky personality.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments i am almost at the end. I laughed at the comment Sam makes about the last man that looked at her. i love the way K.Kingfisher writes her females leads. They are unapologetic and great. I probably won't listen to anymore until Monday. i listen on my way to and from work.

I LOVED that part. 😂

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I was driving home and she said it and I just burst out laughing. That was a good one!

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I finished it today too. I liked it very much.

Lisa | 625 comments Just starting The Ninth Day - Sunday Dinner. I was relieved that (view spoiler) That being said, very fun and enjoyable book.

Juli | 107 comments Is it too late to join in? I just started reading this book.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Not at all! Jump right in.

Richard Dietz | 147 comments I recently got into T Kingfisher. How is this one compared to The Hollow Places and Twisted Ones?

message 36: by Juli (new) - rated it 4 stars

Juli | 107 comments @Latasha oh nice! Is anybody still reading this book?

@Richard Dietz I have only read the hollow places and I’m not that far into this book yet. I’m new to Kingfisher’s books as well.

I liked it almost as much The Hollow Places, which is my fave of Kingfisher's thus far, a lot more than Twisted Ones which I thought petered out as it went along. I rank this one up there among Nettle & Bone and Thornhedge, both of which I enjoyed a lot.

WendyB | 5140 comments Mod
I passed this book along to my husband and he's enjoying it. He likes the humor and the characters.

Adrienne L I really enjoyed this one and love Kingfisher's sense of humor. My favorite line, which literally made me laugh out loud, has to be, "Was it the government?" Those of you who've read it already will know what I mean :). I plan to read The Twisted Ones very soon.

Alan--Same opinion of all those books, in order!!!!

Twisted Ones is pretty good too. Not quite as good as Hollow Places, but has that similar strange feel to it.

Great, thanks. I'm going to add to my read list.

Juli | 107 comments @Adriennelee I want to read the Twisted Ones after I’ve read this book. Do you want to buddy read it?

message 44: by Juli (new) - rated it 4 stars

Juli | 107 comments @Richard Dietz Yes, I plan on reading The Twisted Ones as well! I’m enjoying A House With Good Bones so far. I’m at Night 4.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I think The Twisted Ones is my favorite of her's so far. But I'm not ready to reread it again just yet.

message 46: by Juli (new) - rated it 4 stars

Juli | 107 comments @Latasha Ahw that’s too bad but completely understandable!

Adrienne L Juli wrote: "@Adriennelee I want to read the Twisted Ones after I’ve read this book. Do you want to buddy read it?"

Sure! I can start it after I finish my current e-book read. I'm only about 15% into Within These Walls and it's on the longish side.

message 48: by Juli (new) - rated it 4 stars

Juli | 107 comments @Adriennelee Awesome! I got a few things to read as well so take your time. Let me know when you’re ready to read The Twisted Ones and then we can start another topic on it.

message 49: by LTJ (new) - rated it 4 stars

LTJ (ltj81) | 2011 comments I just finished this yesterday and thought it was awesome! LoL I will never look at ladybugs the same EVER again as the insect horror, humor, and overall story were fantastic. I enjoyed "What Moves The Dead" a bit more than this one but either way, it was a fantastic read.

My full review is below in case anyone is interested :-D

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Glad you liked it! I’ll never think of roses the same. I have 3 😬 I hope I can stay on their good side.
