Welcome to HOB's Annual Monster Hunt!!
Duration: Sep 1st to Nov 30th

Rules:
1. There are 50 Monsters + 6 Bonus Monsters to hunt for the next three months. Each monster has the weapons that can kill them listed. Since I’m the Mistress of the Hunt, you’ll find some unorthodox weapons.
2. Read books that will have the weapon(s) listed for the Monster on the Cover or in text or simply read a book with that monster.
3. There is no particular order, you can Hunt as you please.
4. HOB Standard Challenge Rules apply.
5. Bonus Monsters are worth surprise points.
6. Everyone on the Team has to read for the Bonus Monster. Reading for the same task is allowed.
7. Divide and Conquer. Apart from the Bonus, each Monster can only be read by 1 Hunter.
8. Hunters have to read for the Bonus Monster/check-in before moving onto the regular hunting.

1. You get 5 days to read for the Bonus Monster and Check in!
2. You have to start the book after the Bonus Monster task has been posted
3. You can't use the same book for the Regular Monster and the Bonus
4. Remember this is Competitve Challenge!
5. Reading for the same task is allowed
6. Have Fun!!!

Each Team will have 3 Passes for the Bonus tasks. If a member can't read, they can use the pass (Zero points for the Member) and/or another member can read a book. 3 times only!! Use your passes wisely!

Hello Kira! Welcome to the team!!

A Boggart is a shape-shifting creature that will assume the form of whatever most frightens the person who encounters it. Nobody knows what a Boggart looks like if nobody is there to see it, although it continues to exist, usually giving evidence of its presence by rattling, shaking or scratching the object in which it is hiding. Boggarts particularly like confined spaces, but may also be found lurking in woods and around shadowy corners.

The spell that defeats a Boggart can be tricky, because it involves making the creature into a figure of fun, so that fear can be dispelled in amusement.

3. Read a book with Author's initials in HUMOR
4. Read a book where a character thinks they are funny but they really aren't!

Books must be read for this Bonus Monster and checked in before continuing with your regular monsters!

I’m so frustrated because now I see that it was posted yesterday and I can’t tell you how many times I looked on our threads, including this one, yesterday at least three or four times and I didn’t see any of those messages so when I saw them just now. I thought that they had just been posted. That is so frustrating! How long do we have to find a book and post it?

Thanks, Nanita, the only thing I can see on that post is a big word in black and red that says BOGGART. I don’t know if you ever use your phone to go on Goodreads, but it often blocks out a lot of the words, so thank you for letting me know.

An imp is a European mythological being similar to a fairy or demon, frequently described in folklore and superstition. The word may perhaps derive from the term ympe, used to denote a young grafted tree.

Imps in general are susceptible to the effects of Spirit.

The redcap is a type of malevolent, murderous goblin found in Border folklore. He is said to inhabit ruined castles along the Anglo-Scottish border, especially those that were the scenes of tyranny or wicked deeds and is known for soaking his cap in the blood of his victims. He is also known as Redcomb and Bloody Cap.

Redcaps had a set of superstitions intricately interweaving with one another. In particular, they believed even numbers were unlucky, and thus would only carry odd numbers of coins and formed groups with an odd number of members.

I'm finishing up my work for today and then I hope to finish and my post my pick!

Well, jeez, I didn't even know about this! I think because my phone doesn't show entire messages and my laptop was useless! Been in Vegas last week and sick since Thursday just with an persistent cough, but it's kicked me energy to low gear!

I'm so glad you messaged me. I have my grandkids today so I can't post my book until tonight around 7-8 PST but I'll get one read.

I will get it done and check us in IF our Internet is on. I am so sick of Xfinity! I went to my house today and got that one post above done and the baby needed my attention. So we took him to the park for an hour and went back and I was going to put on a movie for him and Xfinity was out AGAIN! Grrrr. So I will post it and check us in by 7-8 my time (PST), but if it isn’t working I will PM you by 8:00. I can’t do it from my phone. I should be able to put it on the SS since I have that on my phone and I don’t think I need the Internet to put my book on my SS. Hopefully my Internet will be back up and running when I get home.
