Endeavour Award (httpsosfciorgendeavour) | 2 comments Hi all!

Given the general interest in the Hugo award, I'm hoping some members of this group might be interested in participating in a different award.

I am the chair of the Endeavour Award (https://osfci.org/endeavour/), and we are looking for volunteer readers to help determine our finalists.

The award recognizes book-length fantasy and science fiction published by authors in the Pacific Northwest. The winner is announced annually in November at the OryCon science fiction convention in Portland, Oregon.

We operate by having preliminary readers score each entry, with each book receiving up to 5 scores from different readers, and the top scorers are named finalists. A panel of 3 rotating judges then selects the winner from the finalists.

Note that readers DO NOT need to live in the Pacific Northwest!

It's quite easy -- we send you ebooks to read and you score them on a web-based form. You would also be free to publish reviews on GoodReads and elsewhere, though we'd ask you not to mention that you read it for the Endeavour Award.

We do ask for a commitment to read and score at least 5 books, but this is over a 5-month period.

If you're interested in being a preliminary reader, please contact me at jkling at gmail dot com.

Thanks for connecting with us! A new award sounds very promising.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I should note that the Endeavour Award has actually been around since 1999. Previous winners include Erica Satifka, Matthew Hughes, Louisa Morgan, K.R. Richardson, Laura Anne Gilman, Patricia McKillip, Matt Ruff, Brenda Cooper, and others.
