OKAY OKAY OMG SO, I was lying in bed thinking about EvaJacks and suddenly this thought came to me, Evangeline still owes Jacks one more kiss from the deal in ouabh. Sooooo, what if he made her use that kiss on Apollo to kill him?

Stephanie Garber mentioned in an interview that the tree on the cover has significance to the story. I was wondering whether it had something to do with the apples that Jacks keeps eating.

both of these theories are decent. perhaps, these sometimes inverted apples play a part in his magic??

so jacks had the archers curse placed upon him yes? what if- the apples tamp down on the curse???

perhaps the apples grow from a magic type tree (the one on the cover) and they contain some type of magic that's helping to dampen the curse. what if Evangeline is his new fox and that the curse was activated when he saw Eva?

ohhh, that's actually a good one, Jacks said he overcame the Archer's curse but if your theory is right then either that was a lie or he didn't really overcome it, he dampened it.
