It would, and that was a pretty good book, especially if you like Scandinavian noir.

Rhonda, I like your picks! If the second one is something personal to you, I wish you love and luck. Been there.

Thank you. It is personal and your well wishes are much appreciated.

I would also like to add another grey book for this month: Unmasked My Life Solving America's Cold Cases by Paul Holes

I finished Someday, Maybe by Onyi Nwabineli . I gave it 2 stars. This book wasnt what i expected nd just not for me. Definitely not a book to read if you've recently lost a loved one.

Bonnie | 733 comments Bonnie wrote: "Looking to see what's on my kindle or TBR shelf and I think these will work :) The Saving Graces by Patricia Gaffney and Murder by the River Usk (Havard & Lambert Mysteries #3) by Pippa McCathie"

Finished Murder on the River Usk- which I liked OK but felt like the characters were off. Then I realized I read book one and not book 2 in this series (which I own on kindle) so will be reading book 2 soon.

Eileen | 363 comments I finished The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles 5 stars

Finished Saving Graces and it was OK, but I got bored and skimmed. It just seemed like something I'd read many times but with slightly different characters.

That does seem to be a pretty tired trope in women's fiction, Bonnie.....

Added to my TBR Denise -- I'd never even heard of that book before you picked it!

message 31: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 363 comments I finished Someday, Maybe by Onyi Nwabineli 5 stars

message 32: by Rhonda (last edited Sep 29, 2023 07:17AM) (new)

Rhonda | 183 comments Loved both books and gave then both 5 stars.
Tending Dandelions Honest Meditations for Mothers with Addicted Children (Hazelden Meditations) by Sandra Swenson The Worst Hard Time The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl by Timothy Egan

Finished The Character of Virtue Letters to a Godson by Stanley Hauerwas . I loved the idea of this book. A man wrote a letter each year, on his God son's anniversary of baptism, about a different virtue. Some of it was quite good and some fell flat for me. 2.5 stars.

Denise (derickert) | 1277 comments Finished All the Birds in the Sky (All the Birds in the Sky, #1) by Charlie Jane Anders , gave it 4 stars.

message 34: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1127 comments Pietr the Latvian (Maigret #1) by Georges Simenon was a 3-star read for me. I don't know whether to continue the series or not. Has anyone else read this and if so, what do you think?

Seems to me I listened to a couple years ago but they seemed a little dated?

message 36: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1127 comments Yes, it was dated. I have so many other books that sound more exciting that I may never make it to book 2 of this series.
