I’m half through this year long set of releases from Big Finish. And generally they have been wonderful. The premise is that during the Time War, the Doctor inexplicably begins a “degeneration” that forces him to revisit previous faces and incarnations and in the process of trying to find a cure or at the very least more information about what is happening to him. Each new episode offers a previous Doctor encountering people who know him, but not necessarily in the incarnation he currently appears.

features Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith and the Meddling Monk.
features Peter Davison as the fifth Doctor and Jenny, the Doctor’s Daughter (and Davison’s actual daughter, as well as wife of David Tennant - the mind reels) as well as an appearance of The Curator, aka Tom Baker.
features Sylvester McCoy as the seventh Doctor and Davros.
features both Tim Treloar and Colin Baker (respectively as the third and sixth Doctor) with Jackie Tyler, Lady Christina and Harry Sullivan - and how they get all these unconnected individuals together is an example of masterful plotting let me tell you. The next one offers David Tennant back as the tenth Doctor
with The Paternoster Gang and Missy! I can’t wait for this one! But now I’ve just heard that the next chapter
features both Christopher Eccleston And David Warner (in his last recording with Big Finish) as, respectively, the ninth Doctor and a Doctor from an ”Unbound Universe!” And I’m SOOO excited!
No details on these yet
or
. The latter isn’t coming until November 2024. 🙀Another irritating issue is that the “Special Edition” CDs are being delayed because of some printing issues. Apparently the covers don’t have an embossed look as they were supposed to and they’ve had to go with a different manufacturer or something, so even though the regular versions have been released, those of us that preordered the now sold out special edition versions are still waiting. Luckily the download version is available, but I’m still annoyed that it’s been 4 months since the first one got released and they still haven’t got a finished product. This isn’t like Big Finish at all.
features Paul McGann as the Doctor, Carole Ann Ford as Susan Foreman, and Alex Kingston as River Song. Absolutely brilliant. Still waiting for info on
which is coming in November. Now that the first season of Doctor Who on Disney has wrapped, I’m planning on revisiting this Once and Future series before the final chapter arrives.
Doctor Who: Once and Future: Coda: The Final Act features the Warrior (aka War Doctor) and the first appearance on audio of Jo Martin’s “Fugitive” Doctor.
