25.2 - Delicious Dee's Task: The Big Bang Theory

So as truth would have it, I probably would have wrapped up this last season of SRC a lot sooner than I did, if I hadn’t decided to do a complete series watch of the Big Bang Theory. I was one of those people who held out for the longest time from watching it – so it wasn’t until one of my international trips this past year where it was an option on the plane that I started watching and then I had to go back to the beginning.

So help me celebrate Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Bernadette and Amy with my task this season.

For this task you will pick one of the THREE options. Options 1 and 3 have a Book A and Book B option. Option 2 allows you to pick 2 books from a series of shelves.

No Children’s Books or Graphic Novels allowed.

Required: State the options chosen.

Option 1
Book A: The Big Bang Theory introduced us to the characters of Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Penny (no last name, at least at the beginning of the series), Howard Wolowitz, Raj Koothrappali, Bernadette Rostenkowski and Amy Farrah Fowler.
Read a book where the MAIN character shares a name part with one of the BBT bunch. The name MUST appear in the book description or the Goodreads character list. Names MUST match exactly but may be in any position (and all three of Amy’s names may be used)
Example: Misery - Paul "Sheldon" for Sheldon Cooper

Required: State the character names.

Book B: The BBT bunch were played by Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik
Read a book by a SINGLE author, who shares a name part with one of the main actors from the Big Bang Theory. Names must match exactly but may be in any position.
example: The Hazel Wood - Melissa Albert - Melissa Albert for Melissa Rauch (Bernadette)

Required State the actor name.

Option 2
Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Amy are all PhD’s working at CalTech. Howard is an engineer who is on loan to CalTech and Bernedette receives her PhD mid-way through the series. Penny is a waitress/actress.

Pick TWO different options from the following shelves and read a book from the first 5 pages of each shelf. One of your books MUST be Non-Fiction:

Astrophysics (for Raj) - Astrophysics Books

Physics (for Sheldon and Leonard) - Physics Books

Neuroscience (for Amy) - Neuroscience Books

Microbiology (for Bernadette) - Microbiology Books

Engineering (for Howard) - Engineering Books

Actress (for Penny) Actress Books

Required: State the shelves you used and the page number the book was located on.

Option 3

Book A – read a book with AT LEAST a three-letter word in the title (excluding the, and) that shares a word with one of the seasons episodes from this list. Required: - State the season number, Episode Title and Word

Book B – read a book whose number in a series corresponds to the season number you spun. The series must have a minimum of three published books, and the series name and number must be indicated in the GR title listing in grayscale parentheses following the title or grayscale italics above the title.

Dee I am probably being a bit dense ith this one but if I rolled a 1 for option 3 I need to read a number 1 in series irrespective of which episode in the series i choose for title word

Does this sound correct? Deadly Reunion - Amy Manemann - Option 1A = AMY & Flytrap - Simon Kernick - Option 1B = SIMON

Hang on - I goofed up - you’re first book won’t work - the character name not author needs to be Amy!!

Great task! I also was a late-comer to BBT. I got a few seasons on dvd at the thrift store last year and got them to watch in our camper and ended up loving the show.

Re option 2, the actress link doesn't seem to be working - or is it just me? Also, I'm assuming it's OK if both books are non fiction, correct? Thanks!

hi Julia - sorry for delay, I was talking to the mods. we are going to adjust it to clarify word must match exactly unless its an authorized deviation due to a hypendated word - sorry those won't work
