A good opportunity for me to learn (maybe) about baseball and Jackie Robinson. I started it, when are you reading it?
I love how the ball players were just people back then, not celebrities. Meaning, they rented houses in regular neighborhoods instead of living in giant Mansions on the water. i love that
Yes, most of them weren't paid well at all back then. From one extreme to another.I finished this last night & enjoyed it. The fact that it was a true story made it a better story though. I was reminded that several years ago when I was still homeschooling my kids, we read In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson. Obviously, a different story but same time period and I highly recommend it for all ages.
I finished it too, and enjoyed it. I know nothing of baseball, nor any players, but even living under a rock I knew the Jackie Robinson name. Learning more about the person (not necessarily the player) and the times when he was the first black player was interesting. What a difference between then and now!
