HI All, I'm sharing my most recent reads. (I'm also a writer of nasty dystopian books) but today I'm posting as a reader before anything else.
The above book is my favourite this year by miles. To date, in 2023, I've read 67 books. Future Proof (which I'm about to read again) is possibly my favourite book ever. no spoilers but it's a drama/romantic time travel mix of love, affirmation and redemption. Honest to God it is heartwarming and life-affirming and just so much fun. The characters felt like friends and I'm still thinking about them weeks later. If I could have given it 50 stars i would.
There's also an album of music to accompany the book which is kind of unique I think. Anyway - thought I'd share.
I also read Keith A Person's recent book In Lieu of You - now I love all his books, but this for me was a 4 star not 5. Mainly because I didn't like the main character - plus I was probably drawing unreasonable comparisons to Future Proof - but it's good and well worth a read.
I also recently read Village Life is Murder by Penelope Chamberlain. Not my usual type of story - it was OK a bit twee and the characters felt a little wooden - but I finished it and it entertained so 3 stars I think.
