Books for Readers of English as a Foreign Language discussion

Hey all. I am a software developer from Sri Lanka new to the Goodreads community here. I am planning to build an all-in-one integrated ebook reader/assistant tool for individuals who are in the process of developing their English knowledge and would like to expand their English skills while reading content, doing so implicitly. I hope to reduce any hindrance in consuming material with improved assistance with the tool and encourage more non native English speakers to read English content. Which in my belief most of the modern knowledge, (especially also in my field of tech/STEM) are encompassed in English materials. Because of this hindrance I believe some people might be discouraged or even refrain from browsing these sources of knowledge.

Moreover some people including myself were Introduced in to English as a medium of instruction at the university level. So the transition was rough, Mostly because we had to learn a lot of vocabulary, both in subject material and also in general. I would like to streamline this process of enhancing your language skills such that you are able to do it seamlessly with reduced extra effort with all integrated tools. Even though currently (limited in features) integrated tools are available like apple’s lookup feature on their apps, meanings retrieved from those tools can be irrelevant to the context that the word is being used. And those tools aren’t helpful when deciphering idioms and various cultural references.

I am planning on building this tool and the form it takes depends on the data I gather. I have identified above and some other issues which the readers face.
