Hey, I'm currently reading this series as well. I am on the Fourth book TVD: The Dark Reunion, through libby.I've also seen the show loads of times. So far, I think I prefer the show over the books. I just do not find myself investing in the characters and overall plot like I did with the show.
I had no idea there was a ghostwriter for the rest of the books. I don't think I'll be reading the other books though. The ones I have read haven't really convinced me to invest in the rest.

The Beginning of...Why Am I Doing This?
(I wish on Goodreads you can "Book this topic about..." a series instead of individual books. So I'm just going to write ALL of this under the first book. Make life easy teehee.)
Every once in a while, you look at a series and think, "I should definitely read that." To some, it may be "Harry Potter", others may choose "Lord of the Rings" or "Game of Thrones". Well, I've read all of those. Yes, even "The Mortal Instrument" series. I read "The Chronicles of Narnia" when I was a kid, and read "Twilight" like it was a religion.
Thus, I have decided to mind dump my opinions, thoughts, and raw reactions to reading "The Vampire Diaries" for the first time.
"Why?" Well, dear reader, I'm bored. I love a good challenge, and it seems mind-numbing enough to keep me busy. I also want a reason to write, and I probably will have a lot to say about this series. I don't feel like creating a website to write because that's too much work to create.
So I come to Goodreads to word vomit my opinions, jokes, raw reactions, and overall thoughts on this adventure I'm about to embark on. Welcome! :D Sometimes we have cookies.
A Little about me:
I'm 22 years old. I'm a Scorpio. (Oh great, an astrology b*tch). I like to read (duh), I'm a photographer (isn't everyone?), and I have a lot of free time when I'm not thinking about how awful the economy is in America (wow that took a turn).
I came to learn that L. J. Smith only wrote the first 3 books, and then a ghostwriter wrote the rest of the novels in the series. I also came to understand that the television series diverges VERY far from the novels. I will be reading the novels in publication order.
Anyways...Every Post I make/create/write/mind dump will be about the novel when I finish it. There is... I think 19 books total? Some folks argue 13. I'm aiming for the bigger number because including this post, 20 sounds reasonable.
I will do my best to utilize all resources available to me such as my local libraries, Thriftbooks, and Kindle to read these novels. My last resort will be Barnes & Noble (even though I am a Premium Member that is beside the point teehee). I think it's important to utilize resources before I go and spend MORE money. Remember, the economy in America is scary folks.
So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy my posts, my reactions, and this journey I am starting. Have fun! The next post will be "Vampire Diaries: The Awakening (1991)"
