Matthew Blais | 1 comments Somewhere around 2010 (+- 4 years) I received a book which detailed dragons as if they were real animals being studied. Written in English and obtained in Canada, though it could very well have been from the United States. its format was similar to the documentary 'Dragons A Fantasy Made Real', describing dragons as if they existed. Some of the things I remember from the book were...
The cover may have been a Red European style dragon was looking at/near the reader, in a ‘hovering’ position or sitting on top of a rock. Of course this could be edition-specific (if it had any other editions, I can’t say) , possibly one of those where when you turn your head, the image shifts/moves.
One section talks about a species of dragon which lives on top of mountains (I think it talked about parent dragons taking care of its young).
One section talks about a certain phoenix-like dragon that appears every 50 years. I remember this page was drawn in a traditional Chinese style (though lacking strong colour)
I think there was another dragon that it said it ate at least one sheep/goat every day until someone fed a human girl to it (or some variation of that), This being the only part i remember somewhat clearly as a 'story',
I recall it having a section about dragons’ eyes, and I think it had a full page of an eye staring at you.
It also likely had a whole chapter/section dedicated to dragon eggs.
The art style was more elegant rather than cartoonish (best comparison I can think of is Magic The Gathering cards style art).
Most of the dragons were depicted in the European sense, so four legs and 2 wings, possibly wyverns and likely few, if any, wingless dragons like those of east Asia.

A list of books which ARE NOT what I'm looking for,

Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons by Dr. Ernest Drake

The Magnificent Book of Dragons By Stella Caldwell

The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Mythical Creatures by Colin Dempsey

Greg Hildebrandt's Book of Three-Dimensional Dragons

Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts by C.C.J Ellis

Dracopedia Field Guide: Dragons of the World from Amphipteridae Through Wyvernae by William O'Connor

The Book of the Dragontooth: An Ancient Manuscript on the Secret History of the Dragon and the Unicorn by Michael Green

The Dragon Companion: An Encyclopedia by Carole Wilkinson

How to train your dragon: the complete book of dragons

The book of dragons- Michael Hague/Edith Nesbitt
