Can this be done? I have lots of books to "sift" through and would love to remove ones I don't plan to ever revisit.

Hi Trish. You can permanently delete books from your account when going to your Amazon account. Here are the steps of how to do this:1. Log into your Amazon account on www.amazon.com. Hover over “Your Account” and click "Manage Your Content & Devices" or go to www.amazon.com/myk.
2. From the "Your Account" tab on the Manage Your Kindle page, click the "Show:" dropdown menu and select Audiobooks from the list of manageable content.
3. Select the content you wish to delete by placing a check mark in the "Select" column.
4. After selecting your content you can click "Delete" from the top of the page.
The books will then be permanently removed from your library. We hope this information was helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this message. Thanks!
but those instructions are predicated on you having merged your amazon and audible accounts - I know I haven't
Audible.com, thank you for this. I tried the process as outlined. It worked flawlessly. I'd considered having a chat with Audible customer service, but always felt it was a piddly thing. Being able to cull my own library is a welcome piece of knowledge. There were a few things hanging around that I'm pleased to be rid of. Thanks for asking the question Dee. Honestly, I don't think there's anything you need to do to 'merge' your Audible and Amazon accounts. They just are merged because www.amazon.com and www.audible.com are web presences of the same company. Their customer data is shared. I'd advise you to poke around.
Or at least, I didn't do anything special. I've been wrong a time or two. Maybe I've missed something.
I have no desire to merge my amazon and audible accounts - I keep everything separate for a reason - there was a really good article about a guy that basically had all his accounts hacked because they were linked together (I think it started with itunes) - all mine are separate and will stay that way
I didn't have to do a thing. One day I went to Audible.com and it just automatically used by Amazon login information and has ever since. I like having my accounts linked. It makes everything so much simpler. I can even search for and download audiobooks via my Kindle reading app on my android. I love it!
And much easier for someone to access and change should any of your accounts getting hacked - but that is just my opinion - I ligout/login to each gmail separately - don't link them; don't store passwords; clear my cache daily
Dee, I hear ya!I started using a password manager a little over a year ago (LastPass) and love it! Helps me to use a separate password for each site.
Agree totally about clearing cache and basic privacy/security measures.
As to being able to delete books permanently, how silly is it that there is no way through Audible to simply categorize our books. Then we could mark books as read/unread.
If your Audible account are linked to the Amazon account, you can delete audible books from library by "Manage Your Content and Devices".But if not, you should contact Audible customer service. I contacted and the answer is telling me to exchange a new title.
