How to Participate:

The Audiobook Challenge is designed to not only help you to read your audiobooks, but to also find out about other great audiobooks from other challenge participants!

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the Audiobook Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

There are no minimum page requirements, and you can read abridged or unabridged audiobooks!

1. At the beginning of the month, post :
a: How many audiobooks in total you want to read for the month
b: How many audiobooks in the monthly category you want to read
c: Post the audiobooks (as you decide on them) by linking them to Goodreads in your post

2. During the month, read the audiobooks that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s) - note: can only be linked to Goodreads and not an external site
c: How many audiobooks you have read for this challenge this year

Then start a new post for the next month!

Fun! I'm looking forward to see who is in for November so I can scan shelves :)

--edit-- and I'm very sorry I don't shelve my audios separately!!! But if you find something on my shelf I can confirm which media I used. The majority of my books I get on audio along with a kindle/paperback so it's probably good odds

Melindam | 8761 comments I had a good browse on your 2023 shelf, Sammy. And now I am torn.... I found at least 5 I would/should/want to read. Sigh.

Will see, but will probably opt for Charles Dickens: A Life and Dangerous Liaisons.

And I see Karen has also read Red, White & Royal Blue. I did too, but not the audiobook version which I bought on a sale this year.

Decisions... decisions ....

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13450 comments I definitely think you'll enjoy the Dickens biography! I thought it was well-written and told in an engaging way.

But having said that, I doubt Charlie and I would have been friends 😂

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13450 comments If I can justify buying some more audible credits next month, I'm definitely getting Anything You Can Imagine Peter Jackson and the Making of Middle-earth by Ian Nathan . I've been wanting to read that for aaaaages, so thanks for getting there before me so I can use it Mel, lol.

Also starter Villain, of course.

It is narrated by Michelle Williams too....

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13450 comments Probably not as I'm not allowed to buy any more books this year, lol.

But if you read it, lemme know if it's any good for when my ban ends😁

MY MONTHLY RECOMMENDATION (and why): My recommendation would be A Brighter Flame. It was just a wonderful story of family, growth, and forgiveness.

The only book read for the category was Fourth Wing, but I didn't finish it. I had company for the week of Thanksgiving in the US and ended upwardly reading anything this month. I am enjoying it a lot, but needed an extra day or two to finish. I also still intend to read Starter Villain, hopefully soon.

I have finished
The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
so heartbreaking.! I couldn't be happier she is now free to tell her own story and live her life how she wants to

also
Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan
Which I loved so much. All the feels. Julia Whelan is such a great narrator and to have her write and narrate her own book about audiobooks was so fun!

Melindam | 8761 comments I finished Charles Dickens A Life by Claire Tomalin from Sammy's shelf and loved it (5 stars from me), though I am joining Sammy's "loving the books, but NOT the man who wrote them" Club. 🤣
