What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I didn't read it, but I was interested in it a while ago, but I can't remember the title now. I remember a bit of the cover (colorful, maybe, with perhaps a model's face on it--very be-make-upped?), and I know that the main character was different because of a disease or something. It left her with a mark, maybe? In the excerpt her mother was taking her to a place where she was going to compete or try out or something for a position as a trapeze artist. It was fantasy/sci-fi.
