Ambrose walking back from having to steal food as usual. His cloak getting in his sight at he walked, getting annoyed he looked behind him left and right before taking down his cloak. Feeling the itchy feeling on his head going away, he sighed in relief. And the obvious sight blocker out of his way, as he kept walking he leaned down and grabbed a couple flowers and placed them in his water container.
Arden sat in a small clearing, back hunched over a small sheet of wood with paper on it, sketching the thin outline of what would be a forest when he was done. It was nice out here. Quiet. Nobody was around. Except for the fact that, upon straightening his back and looking around, he could see that somebody most definitely was around. He was suspicious, and rightfully so. This man certainly seemed as if he wasn't supposed to be doing... Whatever it was that he was doing. He set his pencil down and watched. If the stranger intended to attack, he most certainly wasn't going to let himself be caught off guard by it.
Ambrose looked at the new person startled and pulled up his hood. Ambrose had crouched down grabbing a concealed knife but hid it behind his back. Getting back up again and walked over to the person, studying their position to see how fast they could move away. He bowed changing his voice so they wouldn’t recognize their usual voice if they knew it.“Hello dear stranger, sorry for just appearing out of nowhere.”
They said with a sly smile
Ari's mind was racing a million miles per minute. Act tough and try to scare this person away, or act innocent and convince him that he wouldn't put up a fight? Because, really, he wouldn't start one. He had a few seconds at most to figure it out. "You're alright. You caught me off guard is all, I wasn't paying much attention," he said, gesturing at the paper on his lap. Gods, he hoped that this sheet didn't get ruined today.
Noticing that this person didn’t seem as if they were going to hurt them or report them to the crimsons. He had shoved his knife into a part of his belt hilt. Looking at the paper they gestured towards, he had appreciated the tiny details of the starting trees.“That amazing, I love how you depicted all the tiny details as if you looked at all these trees close up.”
Ambrose says his sly smile going to a genuine one. A little embarrassed because he couldn’t even draw a stick figure. The itching sensation coming back to his head.
Ari almost allowed himself to relax. Almost. When was the last time he was actually relaxed? He certainly didn't know. Either way, at the very least, he wasn't on edge anymore. "Oh. Thanks." Everything in him screamed for him to stay as stone-faced as he always was, but he couldn't help but awkwardly smile. He really wasn't used to people commenting on his work, more used to sitting in the corner of the bakery as people stared at him and whispered to their companions. "Nature's easy. Easier than everything else, at least. I like drawing people, but as it turns out, they don't usually like when you stare at them."
“I had this brother who drew and once I caught him drawing me. He would just constantly stare at me and I would make fun of him for it.”Ambrose says smiling, thinking of his brother made him happy. Thinking of somewhat easier times. The itchy ness getting worse, and more uncomfortable he pulled down his hood. Thinking of the problems that might happen but he couldn’t resist pulling it down to get rid of the itching sensation. His hair had sprung back up as he scruffed it up a little.
"My sisters did the same thing to me." He shook his head, grinning. "We would be sitting in the back of our caravan while our parents were outside selling stuff. They'd be talking and then they'd look over, see me, and start laughing." And yet despite that, they would always sit down while he showed them his work. Tell him how wonderful of an artist he was, how they hoped he could do something with it. "Do you not talk to your brother anymore?" Ari asked, tilting his head a bit.
“I don’t know where he is anymore..”They say their smile fading. Missing his brother but trying to get over those feelings around people. Looking back towards the persons face noticing a piece of hair getting in their eyes, he had moved his hand slowly towards their face brushing it away. Thinking nothing of it.
"Yea." His gaze turned sad as well as he thought about it. "I get what you mean. My oldest sister left home when I was thirteen, didn't tell any of us where she was going." It was strange to him. He thought that she might've trusted him and Agnes with that information, but he supposed that they were guilty by association. They looked up as the other moved his hand toward their face, a hint of bewilderment showing in their expression, although it was quickly gone. "Oh- Thank you." His face was hot. That was embarrassing. He supposed four years of no physical contact would do that. It was dangerous, too, depending on how this man thought. He could play it off, though, right? He thought himself a good actor.
Looking into the new persons eye realizing they hadn’t said their name.“I just realized I haven’t told you my name! I’m…A..Alistar!”
They said, thinking of a new name on the spot. Rasing his hand smiling to them. Wondering how they will react.
((gotcha :) sorry it was probably obvious but i wanted to double check before i responded and made a fool of myself lmaooAri exhaled softly in amusement. "Arden. Or Ari, I'm not picky. Nice to meet you." He supposed it couldn't really hurt to have at least one person to talk to... Right? He took Alistair's hand, shaking it once before he let his hand fall back to his side. "What do you usually do? Other than wander around random fields," he asked, tilting his head.
“Uhm, I like to write its just I haven’t had time recently.”They say rubbing the back of their head. Looking into their eyes smiling at them, not knowing what this feeling was he looked away from them. Taking off his backpack he placed it aside laying down looking up at the sky. Still thinking about how he would need to leave soon but in this moment he didn’t care. Accidentally he moved his hand near Ari’s side touching him, he had gotten embarrassed and moved his hand.
"Ah, fair. Life isn't exactly kind when it comes to time. Hell, I've been insanely busy hunting for the past few months. I think today's the first day in a while that I haven't had to do something." The majority of his life recently had been wake, hunt, sell, eat, sleep, repeat. Day in and day out. It got quite tiring, but he hadn't found consistent work anywhere else. The merchant he supplied to certainly paid quite nicely as well, especially in the winter. He thought he might actually be able to save up for a house at this rate. "Either way, I like reading when I get the chance. If you're ever willing to share, I'd be more than happy to look." He felt Alistair's hand brush against his side, but he had no intention of reacting outwardly. His reaction to the last moment of contact had already been bad enough.
Slowly as time based and it became darker. Ambrose had gotten up and grabbed his stuff. Noticing that they were far in the flower field Ambrose had said:“Hey Arden, my place is not far and sense it’s pretty dark I was thinking. If you wanted to come to my place for the night?”
They asked knowing that this would be a little risky. But Ambrose was willing to do it, just for the night he thought. He set out his hand for them to grab and be helped up.
Ari considered for a moment. It really had gotten dark, and he wasn't entirely certain that it was safe to go all the way back to the hotel. Most of his stuff was still in the room, but he'd paid for the night before he came out here. It'd probably be fine, right? "If you promise you're not some crazy axe murderer, then sure." He grabbed his bag and put his paper and his pencils into it, then took Alistair's hand and pulled himself up.
“I promise I’m not, just I have to do something to keep it hidden. Sorry for this.”Ambrose had went behind them and put a blindfold on them, keeping his cave save was important. Having to hold their hand to lead them through the rest of the flower field. Going into the woods taking multiple different turns. Finally making it to the cave they went through the vines taking off Arden’s blindfold.
