grllopez ~ with freedom and books (with_freedom_and_books) | 140 comments This simple short poem is about a jester and his love for a queen. (No mention if this queen is taken or not?) He shows his love for her by giving her his soul (represented by the color blue that he wears in his costume), but she rejects him. Next he gives his heart to her (represented by red), and she still rejects him. He is relentless when he declares that he will give her both his soul and heart (represented by his jester's cap, which displays both the red and blue), and this she accepts. But the jester had to give up who he was, even his life, in order to love her.

Now, I am not certain what is true: did he actually give his life (die) in order that she would accept his love, or did he leave his current position as jester and become someone else? Granted they could not publically be together given their socio and economic statuses would not permit such a relationship. But what happened to the jester???
