A long, wide hallways riddled with trophies, awards, banners and posters for Battle of the Bands. It's goliath, with beautiful arches holding up a curved ceiling, reminiscent of Grand Central Station

Poe adjusted the pride pin on his hoodie, taking a deep breath, and turned to his sketchbook.

Peter stormed in with his hands stuffed in his pockets, an angry expression plastered on his face. If that damn history teacher spouted off about the great depression one last time, he was going to throw a child.

Poe hummed under his breath as he sketched, a small smile curling at the corners of his lips.

Peter glanced out from the side of his eyes, his gaze catching a small male drawing. He huffed in annoyance, of course that dude had to be all peaceful and calm. He was kind of cute though, he couldn't lie.

He frowned slightly, erasing something and redrawing it.

Peter had a small lightbulb moment and stormed up to the boy, "Oi! Checkers!"

He jumped.
"H-huh?"

Peter folded his arms over his chest with a scowl, "What are you drawing?"

"The hallway..."
He tilted the sketchbook to allow Peter to see and shifted nervously, expecting to get punched. The buttons on his hoodie clattered as he did so.

Peter scoffed softly and shook his head, looking at the drawing. It was very good, he had to admit, but he wouldn't let this kid know that. "I've seen better..." he mumbled.

He steeled himself, readying for a blow.

Peter raised a brow, "Whats with the crunched stature?"

"Are you... not gonna punch me...?"

"Uhhh...No?" Peter looked baffled.

He let out a breath, posture relaxing slightly.

Peter paused for a moment before sitting down next to the male, "What made you think that, checkers?"

"Just used to it, I guess..."

Peter froze, "Used to- how?"

"No mercy in small towns... especially the less accepting ones..."

Peter raised a brow before sighing shaking his head, "Damn..."

"I-it's fine, I'm used to it..."
He puts his sketchbook away, the buttons on his hoodie clanking again. There were a couple of pride pins - trans, gay - and a baby duck with a butter knife and the words 'I've had just about enough'

Peter's gaze fled to those pins, his assumptions confirmed. "So, your trans?" he asked bluntly.

"Mmhm."

He dusted off, slinging his bag back over his shoulder.

Peter shrugged it off, "Cool...I guess..."

(bro I can't think of a way to in character way to bring things up-)

"Probably won't even go to the dance, at this point..."

Peter paused, "Why?"

"Just gonna be alone, as always..."

"Not worth going..."

Peter hesitated before cursing under his breath, "Hold on..."

"Huh...?"

Peter sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "You are going with me...That is final...You're welcome." he stood up and got ready to leave.

"W-wait, what!?"

"You heard me, checkers..." He snorted amused, "See you then..." he walked of.

Poe was startled, to say the least. Elated that someone actually would be going with him, but startled.
