it will i guess, not if they change itit doesn't matter for me, i love watching before reading it helps me picture the characters and memorise the names
I wonder if the ending of the show's 5th season finale, with a couple of character deaths are spoilers from book 6 since if you look those characters up in the Song of Ice and Fire wikia they are marked as still alive.
There are rumors that say the new book is about Stannis and Tyrion, but the thing is the show is about Dany and Jon. This is infuriating, not only is the show ahead of the book now, the last book might be entirely spoiled.
why wait years for the 7th one when you can watch a couple of episodes? I'm angry at martin for this since this is unprofessional if you ask me.

By the time this book comes out and there is finally a glimmer of the final book after many many years will most people even remember the tv series all that vividly? I mean it is going to be such a long wait the show can spoil what they like and it won't have such a drastic affect on enjoying the books. The wait however may mean I probably will forget all about it entirely and never buy the book as I'll be kinda old in 20 years.

The thing about tv series is that can be enjoyed many years later at any time. So yeah maybe not all will remember it but the fans will (like the scifi fans when it comes to Star trek/Wars and the like).
If you ask me it's possible that people won't remember the books. Frankly this is the reason why I haven't bothered reading the books. I'm quite the forgetful person so if I read the books and wait years for the last 2-3 (however many Martin is thinking of doing) by the time they are out I would have forgotten the rest, and only have a vague idea, and that's because of the tv series.
Won't that spoil the books when I'll have to research sites like wikia to figure out whoever a character is or a sub-plot of the book?

I feel like the show and the books are already so different that they can still have different plots and end in the same place, so even if I watch the entire show, the books are still going to be surprising regardless of the show's ending.Same outcome, different journeys. For all we know, Stannis can live through the entire book series. Sansa has a completely different storyline in the books as well, so she will most likely have a different ending. I mean, I understand that having the main plot sucks but if you think the books and the show are the same then why bother reading them in the first place?

There were rumors going around about this at first but now it is confirmed. Not a happy camper!
