Great list, Veronica!

I read that first Cormoran Strike and loved it. Not sure why I didn't pick up the next; but that has become a habit of mine. I need to concentrate on these series.

Good luck and I hope that series is enjoyable for you. 📚📚

I do need to read the 2nd Cormoran Strike book. I enjoyed the first so much.

Lea (leaspot) | 3807 comments I read the first two Cormoran Strike books and I really should keep going. I feel like I'm bound to forget what is happening. I loved Shantaram, but I was disappointed in the sequel, The Mountain Shadow. I did enjoy Carrie Soto.

Good luck and have fun with your list.

It's very good. Fantasy is not my go-to genre, but I loved this. I hope you will, too.

Veronica (veraj121) | 238 comments Just Do This One Thing for Me 3.5 Stars.

Oh man. What a book to start with. Talk about ratched and dysfunctional. But this is a good about a not so conventional family read. Its a book on what not to do with your children. Its about family sticking together no matter what. And we all make mistakes.

Its hilarious and sad.. But a feel good in the end

Veronica (veraj121) | 238 comments Did You Hear About Kitty Karr? Did You Hear About Kitty Karr? by Crystal Smith Paul

Ok, The first book of the year. It started off slow. It took about 2 weeks to complete.

This historical fiction is a history I know very well. African Americans passing. and crossing over. I love every aspect of my culture. Survival. Acceptance. Equality. This may not be an ideal way to obtain this. But it is about life or death for so many.. And not just in the African American culture.

Anyway this book took me awhile because I had a hard time connecting the past with the present. Kitty Karr's story was so much more intriguing. Overall to me this book read like a history book. I felt nothing for the characters. I felt they were there to teach the history. But not feel it

Side note - was a bit offended when one of the characters's changed their to one of the characters of Their Eyes Were Watching God. And another was like you can do that. No one will know because no one has read the book.... Umm Ive read it 3x.. Once in school. And now its a movie. Dont mind me. Very few things trigger me..That did

Veronica (veraj121) | 238 comments What Happened to Ruthy Ramirez What Happened to Ruthy Ramirez by Claire Jiménez 4.0.

I loved this book. Now this the NY i know. The culture. The lingo.

But besides I love the story of sisters and mother/daughter relationship. Imagine your sister missing and seeing her on a reality show years later. What would you do as a sister? As a mother? This story is told in the POV of 2 sisters, the mother, and ultimately Ruthy. And the question is what happened to Ruthy Ramirez? You have to read to find out.

Now, that book sounds like crazy drama!! How're you going to just up and go (which is legal for adults); then show up somewhere else later!!?? I would still be beating up my daughter.

Anywho; I might need to add this book. That sounds crazy!

I do not know what to say about this read. Its a book one could have a discussion for days. So many take aways. But watch the Netflix movie. The movie version is the reason why there was a massive recall on the Tesla.. The cars needed a reboot.

I loved this book. I kept forgetting that this book was fiction instead of a real true crime. It is written so well you will forget. Oh I guessed the killer...Please read. You will be up all night.

Veronica (veraj121) | 238 comments Weyward by Emilia Hart... Hauntingly beautiful. The women of witches were amazing characters. I was in love. I did not devour this book. I savored it. The fear of woman empowerment and strength is real.. Even today.

A good woman's month book to read

message 25: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 238 comments The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

OMG!!! Now this I devoured. The plot twist doesnt stop ( even it sounds very similar to a particular book). Millie is FIYA.. NINA.. All i can say is DAMN.

I can't say too much because of the spoilers.. Bur things are not what it seems. You will be at the edge of your seat.

I cant wait to read book 2. Just waiting for my daughter to catch up

Kudos on your progress.

I did not watch the Oscars. It's always so boring; but I have heard of those books. Not so sure about Poor Things; but I need to be fair and look/research those.
