I actually have an idea sort of similar to your idea for couple two

Hanna Miriam Hirsch was born in 1924 in Munich into a very wealthy Jewish family, who owned over 30 German Department stores.

Thomas Berner was her naighbor. Two years her senior, he lived just across the street. As they grew up, the two grew closer. Hanna taught him sign language, so he could speak with her younger brother Klaus, and he taught Hanna how to dance, which was strictly forbidden in her family. Despite her strict Jewish parents, he gained permission to date her, and together, they sinned..

Yet all wasn't well. Thomas' parents, while kind people, were devout nationalists, and forbade speak of religion in their house, as well as enlisting Thomas in the Hitler youth.

While Hanna earned a Star of David and increasing ostracization, Thomas was recieving commendations, becoming increasingly torn between the girl he'd promised to marry, and the knowledge that she was a Jew.



So I plan for this to start at the beginning of their relationship, and following what ensues because of his brainwashing. She will eventually be taken away to a concentration camp, where she is the only one in her family that survives.

After they are freed by the Americans, he is part of the POW German officers they make bury the dead bodies in the camp. It's then that they meet again, both families dead, all the other has left.
