Diana Hryniuk | 837 comments Dive into a touching story about a girl named Salamanca Tree Hiddle. Her mom is away, and she's figuring out how to deal with it. Sal, along with her grandparents, goes on a journey to see her mom. During the trip, she shares a story about her friend, Phoebe, whose situation is a lot like hers. Even though I thought the book seemed a bit too childish at first, I changed my mind as I learned more about Sal and Phoebe.

The author did a great job mixing in serious life stuff with fun and sweet moments. The story isn't all heavy; there's fun, romance, and silly parts too. It all fits together really well. I was even close to tears at one point!

My main goal in reading kids and YA books is to find good ones for my daughter as she grows up. This book is definitely going on my list of worthwhile reads. It's a great choice for anyone who likes stories that are both heartwarming and meaningful, no matter their age.

Ellen | 3544 comments I read this several years ago and feel much the same way you do. It was funny, sad, touching and I enjoyed it. It is a worthwhile addition to your daughter's future reading.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8463 comments I also agree. A book that many younger (and older) readers can enjoy.
