Melanie | 1911 comments Rainbow Reading Challenge
Explanation: This year’s fun reading challenge is to Read the Rainbow. Read 12+ books to complete the full spectrum. You can decide which book to dedicate to which month with the goal being to finish before 2024 ends. The book can have a cover that primarily depicts the color or have the color in the book’s title. All books need to be classified as YA for this challenge.

Bonus Challenge: complete the challenge twice: once based on cover colors, once based on book titles.

Color Spectrum:
-White
-Silver
-Red
-Pink
-Orange
-Yellow
-Green
-Blue
-Purple
-Gold
-Black
-Rainbow

Melanie | 1911 comments Discussion: We can use this thread to plan for each color, recommend and review books.
*PS: All books (technically) need to be classified ad YA for this challenge, but if you want/need to bend the rules to participate and have fun, go for it!*
PSS: You can also tweak the color scheme for yourself as needed.

Melanie | 1911 comments I'm not tackling this one as well as the other challenge, but I can play catch up in the summer. So far I have...
Black: The Giver
Orange: Pumpkinheads
Blue: The End and Other Beginnings: Stories from the Future

DivaDiane SM | 290 comments Haha - thanks Melanie! I now have Black and Orange as well. I’m reading Blue at the moment: The Last Cuentista.

Anna | 231 comments Well, I made it through 7 books without specifically trying to work on this challenge....and then I didn't know what I wanted to read last week so I decided to choose based on what color book covers I still needed. There apparently aren't a ton of yellow books out there.

The best part was, during the search I found one that will work for both challenges during the next quarter! Hope Ablaze by Sarah Mughal Rana

Melanie | 1911 comments I'm not doing as well with this challenge as expected, but I'm still on track to finish a full set. Here's my latest:

-Gold: Aru Shah and the City of Gold
-Red: The Scarlet Alchemist
-Yellow: Not Your Sidekick
-Green: The Haunted House
-White: Red, White & Royal Blue

That brings me to 8 of 12

Melanie | 1911 comments The year is almost over. Did you, in fact, Read the (YA) Rainbow?

message 10: by Anna (new)

Anna | 231 comments I managed to finish. 9 of the books were just books I was reading anyway. 2 of the books I picked based on the cover color when I was in a reading slump and was struggling to pick books, so cover color was an easy way to narrow it down. The final book I read was specifically to finish the challenge.
