Sam is called out to a crime scene that turns out to be Julian Sinclair. When Sam goes to notify Nick, she takes Detective Jeannie McBride with her and does it on record. Was this absolutely necessary or could she have done this somewhat differently?

Yes and no. Since Nick was one of the last people to be with Julian, his notification needed to be official. But it really sucked that it had to be that way.

Sam must do her job by the book, especially considering her past actions when it comes to Nick.

I didn't think of that, but you are absolutely right, Lauren. With the IAB probe hanging over her, she had to do it by the book and with as much distance from Nick as possible.

I agree. Sam has to be very careful to follow all the rules or she could lose her job.

She did exactly what she had to do. She couldn't show partiality to Nick. He was one of the last people to see Julian alive.
