This book starts out very smoothly. It breaks down who is who, and who owns what. Here you have a man who is smitten by a Jewish female who has a disability, and then marries her. Moshe and Chona and their grocery store which helps Black folks and European Immigrants.
So as the couple own a grocery store, and pass out IOU's, then if it worked back then, then why wouldn't it today? Most people, and majority were Black Americans who actually did not own to much of anything, could go to a store, and run up a tab, and pay little each week or month. The Jewish population helped out, or hurt the community of Black Americans, because there had to be some interest in this pay-day loan type of thing. What do you think?
Moshe and Chona look to the Black Community to get her well, and my thought is this, is there certain folks within the community that can really get you well? Has anyone ever heard of Hot Toddy? Where did that originate from? I remember as a kid, my mom use to make a gallon of this, and when we started getting sick, then she would make us drink some, and the next day or so, we were up and running around again as kids. No I know that Hot Toddy has alcohol in it, so during the days I GREW up in, it wasn't child abuse...You know what I mean?
