Am hoping on having a great year of reading. It is so therapeutic.
Am hoping to:
1. Finish my ABC challenges by July 1.
2. Read 280 books
3. Read 13 of my own books
4. Read at least 13 non fiction
5. Participate in the monthly themes like:
a. Valentines Day
b. Hispanic Heritage Month
c. Black History Month
d. International Woman's Day
e. etc.
Good luck to everyone!

Great idea, Stacie!

Good. For. You!! Not enough time to waste on books you're not into!

I definitely saw that post this morning. Goodreads is having big issues in the new year.

I wouldn't care but I actually spent time thinking them through and being detailed. Oh well, not the end of the world but Goodreads has been glitchy for the past couple of days. On TikTok someone made a comment that readers are jumping to new APPS and that Goodreads is not being updated anymore. I haven't been able to find anything official about this so not sure if it is just misinformation.
Take two!
I have just a couple of realistic goals for 2024.
Books - read 100 books, keep up with reviews/logging and participate in book groups.
People - spend more time with friends and family.
Work - go to work earlier and leave earlier balance work with personal time better, improve procrastinating by focusing on 1-3 priorities per day.
Health - continue building on habits that I worked on in 2024 include increased fitness, meal planning, getting 7 hours of sleep or more and continue working towards my next weight goal, about 33 pounds.
Home - continue to organize and declutter rooms I did not get to in 2023, finish clothes, shoes and accessories, kitchen cabinets, hall closet and office/craft room and master bathroom.
Wealth - continue to save for vacations/special events

I read more in 2023 than in 2022. 2022 was a tough year for me with a huge workload. We moved across the country early 2023 but I found my reading stride again. I have a big loftier goals for 2024 in terms of book number but I am keeping with "read what strikes me fancy" and no TBR. I hope the be more chatty in this group this year. I did make a 2024 vision board full of vibes. The biggest takeaway from that is to focus on the now. I've done a lot of focus on the future in 2022 and 2023. Time to slow down a bit.

Me to Stacie and within hours of Jan 1st, it happened!! LOL And I find I am still okay with it. Life is too short to read books that are not working for the reader.

WELL DONE YOU!!!!
It can be so difficult, but that is so great that you were strong and followed through!! I hope your next read is amazing!!

I also hope to read at least one 500+ page book a month. Because I have several of those monsters just sitting here on shelves so I should read them. Some are classics I never read, some are sci-fi or fantasy and some are just whatever they are. I have a habit of looking in those little free libraries and you find all sorts of books in those things.
I also want to read more classics this year too. I am off to a good start. Already read 7 of them in Jan! But I have a lot more hear to read.
2023 was a crazy year. I was hardly ever on GR really. I was reading a few books but just taking a pic of the book with my phone. Then at the end of the year I tried to input them into GR. I do NOT recommend trying that at all!!
But I am back into daily activity here. And I like to play the silly word games in the one group I am in.
I am going to be moving on the 26th so most of my books are already away in boxes. Sure need a lot of boxes to move!! 😮 someone is going to be killing themselves moving those boxes of books but NOT me. 😂😂😂 I have hEDS. Cannot move it. Some moving company will.
But I am going to a bigger nicer apartment. And there is a gym in the building and a secure mail room too!!
December was a bit of a tough month: had to fight the desire for books! 😂😂 had to think "nope have to move!!"
But I read less in 2023 than in 2022.

Here’s to 2024 and everyone crushing their reading goals!👏👏📚

How about you, Elyse?"
You know, Carol, I didn't make any bookish resolutions in 2024. I set my goal at 100 and that was it. Because I knew I'd be a mom for almost 100% of the year so I didn't want to put any pressure on myself to do -any- reading and I'm quite pleased with my total for the year, I'll hit 245!

Did you end up reading more, less, or the same in 2023 as in previous years?
What do you want or hope to change, if anything, about your reading habits?
