Not my cup of tea: DNF books

1. Kraken by China Miéville
I think this is a record for me-my first DNF by January 4. The book was just too weird and I didn't want to spend time reading over 500 pages of a book that wasn't at all what I expected.
2. Altes Land by Dörte Hansen
I didn't like any of the characters.
3. Aké: The Years of Childhood by Wole Soyinka
The book is fine but now is not the right time to read it. The writing is dense and needs too much concentration.
4. The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements by Sam Kean
Too much science and not well organized.

I read French as well...average 30 books a year. I see a lot of Jules Verne on this list! I also discovered L'Attaque du moulin by Zola...I never heard of this one..and the Jean Giono classic! I like your idea of grouping books (e-books, bookcase, French etc). I will start to make my own booklists for 2025 Personal Challenges and post them in December 2024. Lists motivate met to ..."keep reading" and turn off social media!!

I have the complete works of Verne in ebook format, with the original illustrations. They're a lot of fun.
