Olivia's parents were among Hollywood's golden couples…until the night a monster came and took her mother away forever. A monster with the face of her father...

Sheltered from the truth, an older Olivia only dimly recalls her night of terror—but her recurring nightmares make her realize she must piece together the real story. Assisted by Noah Brady, the son of the police detective who found her cowering in her closet so many years before, she may have her chance. Noah wants to reconstruct the night that has become an infamous part of Hollywood history. He also wants to help Olivia and heal the longing in her lonely heart. But once the door to her past is opened, there's no telling what's waiting on the other side. For somewhere, not too far away, the monster walks again...

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1511 comments I just finished Olivia's section and I am hooked. This may be an older Nora, but it is just as good as anything she has written lately. I usually don't care for the slow build up, but she is developing these characters in a way she hasn't done with recent books where I have felt detached from her main characters.

Shelby (whiskeygirl75) | 92 comments Anita I agree I loved the building of the story.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 343 comments I did too. I really loved the character development in this book.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 86 comments This was a re-read for me. It was a favorite in my teens and it more or less withstood the test of time.

As I already knew who the killer was, this aspect was not as suspenseful this time. Nevertheless, it was interesting to see this person's interactions with the other characters knowing now that they were the guilty party.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 343 comments I suspected him on and off throughout the book.

Shelby (whiskeygirl75) | 92 comments Same Karen.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1511 comments The baddie took me by surprise, but with such a limited pool from which to choose he was a good bet.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 305 comments I finished a little late. I guessed the killer the first time he appeared. I never do that. I suspected why too. I'm a little disappointed that Olivia didn't have a little time with her father, but the ending was good.

Nora Roberts knows how to weave a tale that's for sure.
