Write here which book would you like to read in March.
The full list of VMC books you can find on our to-read shelf.

For the sake of diversity, please don't nominate books from previous poll, that is:
A Particular Place by Mary Hocking
Good Behaviour by Molly Keane
Millenium Hall by Sarah Scott
My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin
The Optimist's Daughter by Eudora Welty.
You will be able to nominate them again after a month.

You can nominate 1 or 2 books. The rest of the rules you can find here.

This time only three nominations. I will give it a day or two yet, and then perhaps add my nomination and make a poll.

Sonia Johnson | 144 comments March is always a busy reading month for me as I try to read for the Irish Readathon and Dewithon. I will find something to nominate for April.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 77 comments I want to read one of the books already nominated, so I won't be nominating.

JosephineBookwyrm | 22 comments Is the discussion closed? If not (and if possible for this group) I’d like to suggest a non-fiction read - Dust Tracks On a Road which is Zora Neale Hurston’s autobiography.

Of course, all books on the Virago Modern Classics list can be nominated.

Is there a group on GR that celebrates Irish writing during the month of March?

Sonia Johnson | 144 comments The Irish Readathon is hosted by Words of Clover (and others) on Booktube. There is a discord group for it. Last year there were 4 easy prompts and a group read. I enjoyed doing it and hearing what everyone was reading. Expect this year's announcement end of Jan/beginning of Feb. I have two Virago books by Molly Keane and one by Olivia Manning (set in Ireland) which I hope will meet some of the prompts. One of the prompts is always read a book with green on the cover - perfect for a VMC.

I think it through now, and I shouldn't get involved in another group, I have too many already. ;-) But I will try to celebrate Irish writing in March, by reading, at least, one of Molly Keane's books (I loved "Good Behaviour") and perhaps some other book.

Laura (loranne) | 319 comments Hi - I want to read Miss Mole E.H. Young - she's an author I've dug up myself recently - to improve my knowledge of British Female writers - I'll vote for that.

It looks like another book will win this time. But if you want (and "Miss Mole" won't win) we can do buddy-read.

By the way, we are reading E.H. Young's series now (Jenny Wren) - if you would like to join.

Laura (loranne) | 319 comments Hi Mela - I didn't see that - I forgot to check the whole list of activities. I have a couple of group reads at the moment - so quite busy, but yes if Miss Mole doesn't win - let's make a date to read it - I like buddy-reads. Can I check back - mid February perhaps?
