I've just finished part V & my interest is definitely starting to tail off. & editors/proofreaders failed to pick up on Ms Stewart's repeated use of lovely in regards to Morgan. It's annoying.

Yes, she seems tired. And when a writer is as successful as she was, publishers will keep publishing her and won't challenge her to polish they way they would with a less well-known author. I see it all the time. Recently read a much-hyped book by a well-known, award-winning author (The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store) and it was just packed with the most howling errors! I couldn't tell whether he had an incompetent copy editor or he was simply too arrogant to take his editor's advice.
