This book moves the action to New York City. The girls are excited to be moving back to their hometown, but it's not living up to their expectations. There are pockets of Ever Afters living there, including the kingdom of Faerie. Since their good friend Puck was injured in the previous book, finding Faerie is their only hope of curing him.
Sabrina, is eleven years old and is not sure she wants to be in the family business. Her younger, Daphne, who is seven loves being a fairy tale detective and provides great comic relief.
The characters are so much fun. I especially loved Mr. Hampstead, one of the Three Little Pigs, some real pirates of Wall Street and, no kidding, a giant Wicked Witch robot that climbs the Empire State Building, much like King Kong.
This book is probably best read in order since the main characters continue to grow and there are a few continuing storylines. Not all the fairy tale characters are from Grimm's stories. The Puck storyline channels Shakespeare and then there's my favorite, the Wizard of Oz.
These books are ideal for middle age and older children but I find them excellent for older adults who loved fairy tales as children and will be quick to see the creative retelling of some favorite characters.
