While I don't like this book nearly as much as the Percy Jackson series, I am enjoying The Red Pyramid. This could be because of my fascination with Egyptian Mythology (but any kind of mythology interests me). I really like the relationship between the two main characters, Carter and Sadie. Even though they rarely saw each other during their childhood, Rick Riordan does a good job at creating that sibling rivalry while maintaining their lack of familiarity with each other. I also really like how he uses the alternating narrators. The story really changes depending on which one of the siblings is telling it.
I agree about it not being as amazing as Percy Jackson (but seriously PJO is fantastic so idk how you could compare it to anything). I agree that there is a great relationship between the two characters and you can really tell they're siblings even if they don't see each other all the time. I still love the way Rick Riordan weaves the mythology into the books, and I like how Carter seems to know a ton about Egyptian mythology already because of his dad while in PJO there was the whole not knowing anything. While at the same time, Sadie seems to not know anything and she doesn't really care to know anything which really defines her character. I really like how different they are, and I am really intrigued about the ba saying Carter was a king (something along those lines), so I'm hoping we find out more about that (and I'm certain we will). ;) I can't wait to keep reading because it's a lot of fun!
I'm really enjoying this so far! The mythology's really intriguing, and the way the magic works is fascinating!
