Book Club+ MPC discussion

Hi everyone,

I hope you have been enjoying "The Unmaking of June Farrow" by Adrienne Young. June has a complicated family history and I hope she is able to find her way back to the time that she truly wants. Her past is becoming more complicated.

Chapter 17
Esther came to take June to the festival. As she was leaving she could see that Eamon was already working the fields trying to make the harvest. She confronted Esther about the sheriff looking for her and wanting to speak to her about Nathaniel's murder. She told June that the sheriff and Eamon had issues with each other. Esther explained to June that she needed to be seen to stop people from asking questions and wondering about her.

June felt that June was hiding things from and she was not being entirely truthful about many things, like Eamon. On the drive to the festival, June was amazed at the town. She recognized many things, many things had changed with time. She saw the sign for the Midsummer Faire and it gave her an eerie feeling. They stared at June as she and Esther approached. Esther pointed out people to June who were saying hello. A woman Claire tried to make June feel bad about how she left Eamon and he was alone to care for himself. June found herself suddenly feeling a little jealous.
Esther tried to separate both women. There was tension. June was not getting sympathy from Claire. Esther sent June to get a pie at the diner. She saw a photo of the Presbyterian church with Nathaniel in it. The photo had given her an uncomfortable feeling. She wanted to leave, feeling overwhelmed.

June asked about Eamon's farm. Esther told her he was having money troubles. Esther explained that after June left, without her help, the farm suffered. June wanted to know what had happened to Eamon. Esther told her to find out when she returns to the present time. Suddenly, a police ca was following them. Esther told June to say she was home all night. It was Caleb, the same sheriff who came by Eamon's house earlier. He asked for June to come to the police station for questioning. She agreed. She saw his name tag "Rutherford."...Caleb drove her to the police station...

June went to the faire with Esther, not the warmest welcome... Claire? She does not like June. She seems to have a deeper concern about Eamon's well-being? Caleb the sheriff has stopped June for questioning. What is going to come of this visit to the sheriff's office? His name tag said "Rutherford" relation to Nathaniel?.... June if feeling overwhelmed. What will be revealed at the sheriff's office?
