Diana Hryniuk | 838 comments This novel was a refreshing change for me. It blended mystery with a delightful abundance of food, which I found quite unique. While I enjoyed it overall, I felt it attempted to tackle too many themes simultaneously, resulting in a lack of focus on any one particular aspect. The story touched upon issues such as sexual orientation, family expectations, drugs, friendship, and even a hint of a love triangle, all while the central murder mystery sometimes felt overshadowed. I believe the narrative could have been stronger with a narrower focus.

Nevertheless, the author skillfully crafted a cosy mystery that warmly enveloped readers in the genuine love and generosity of the Filipino family portrayed in the story.
