This month we'll be discussing Nora's latest single title release! Feel free to start discussing the anticipation up to the 14th release date, and then the book.

The Liar by Nora Roberts

Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions …

The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.

Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows—and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning …

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 36 comments Sounds crazy! I'm excited! This should be different, too... I can't remember reading one of Nora's suspense novels that involved a young child... Oh wait... okay, High Noon, but she wasn't this young.

Plus, that's the day I find out if I'm having a girl or boy!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
You're expecting, Sara??? How far along?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
I'm using a free audible credit to listen to this one!

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 343 comments I'm definitely getting this one!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 36 comments I'm 17 weeks right now.

Talya | 815 comments Mod
That's wonderful news Sara!

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 219 comments I am looking forward to this! Without Nora starting a new trilogy this spring I feel like the wait has been forever!

My mom and I are spending Mother's Day weekend at Inn Boonsboro (we tried to get a room for the signing weekend coming up but it was booked all the way back in October!). Mom and I both agreed to wait to get the book until we are actually at Turn the Page Bookstore, but I don't know if I will be able to hold out that long! lol

I will! I used to live much closer to Boonsboro and have had the pleasure of going to a half dozen or so signings and stayed at the Inn about a year and a half ago.

My mom is the person who got me interested in reading Nora, although she did it unwittingly as I started stealing Nora books from the bookshelf at about 15, so I am excited to share this experience with her.

I started The Liar this morning while waiting on something at my daughter's school. I've read the first two chapters already and I'm hooked! I can't wait to get back to it later this evening. (which translates to sneaking it in every possible moment that I can. LOL)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
Do you know where in Tennessee the story is set?

Jonetta wrote: "Do you know where in Tennessee the story is set?"

I'm on chapter 3 and it's set in Villanova, PA right now. Shelby has thought about Rendezvous Ridge as being home, though. Is that a real place in TN or a fictional one?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
I believe it's fictional. I think I'll look for something around the Great Smoky Mountains for our masthead.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 727 comments Mod
Oh, good idea, Jonetta. And yes it is fictional. I did a Google search and nothing came up for such a place.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1501 comments Sounds like Justify territory to me. I know that is Kentucky, but Tennessee has some real rural areas too.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 36 comments Okay, not looking at the comments because I haven't read it yet, but for any of you who wanted to know, I'm having another girl!! That'll be 3 for 3! :)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
Girls rule! Congrats, Sara.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 727 comments Mod
Congratulations, Sara! As my daughter's would say: "Girls rule and boys drool." :) They're in grade school; what can I say? LOL

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1501 comments I've got three wonderful girls. They are best friends and still have their dad wrapped around their little fingers.

Jonetta, Shelby is thinking of home where I am in the book. She is thinking of mountain air and greens and blues if that helps you for the pic.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
Check out the pics I selected.

Jan | 38 comments I started it as well, I kind of feel bad for her she has so much on her plate and not to know the man you were married to and finding out all of this after his death has to be devastating I like the way she is not letting it get her down a strong woman and doing the best for her child I think we as all woman are wired that way:)

Peace LOL jan that is what I see so far anyways I like the way the realtor is helping her out too!!

message 29: by Jan (new)

Jan | 38 comments I believe I am at the end of chapter 3 and when she got that phone call for one of his alias and got so frightened I would have too, I wonder whast is going to be with all of these identities. Until the next chapter I guess can't wait:)

LOL peace Jan

Jennifer | 96 comments I jumped on my library's website today. Something I should have have done weeks ago. The book is still on order and there are already twenty - five holds. The good news- there are a lot of Nora fans in my area. Let's hope my library order more than a couple of books. Haha

I'm on Chapter 20 and really enjoying it (listening to it). The narrator is really good.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
I just finished listening to the book and liked the performance of the narrator. While I enjoyed the story, it's pretty low on the suspense meter.

Talya | 815 comments Mod
That's great to hear Jonetta and Sheery! I'll be finally starting in just a bit.

Nikki ♥ | 283 comments I just finished the book. I liked it, but would have preferred a little more suspense.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7112 comments Mod
Me, too, Nikki. This was more like a contemporary romance.

Talya | 815 comments Mod
Holy wow, just like all of Nora's works, hits you in the beginning. Poor Shelby, but what a trooper.

Cyndi | 1 comments I just finished the audio. I loved the narrator!! I agree with Jonetta, this was more of a contemporary romance to me, no suspense. I don't normally like romance only books, but I still enjoyed it. Would have loved more suspense though.

Hi Jonetta I..."

While we are spoiler free, we don't talk about specific details that others may not have read that disclose plot points or revelations (see your message #29). To be on the safe side, use the spoiler feature to hide your comment from anyone who hasn't yet read the book or gotten as far as you have.

To hide a comment, type the following:

< spoiler >type your comments here< / spoiler >

You should remove all of the spaces in the bracketed areas. I had to put them there so you could see the format.

Hope this is helpful.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 36 comments Okay... this is next on my to-read list. I'm finishing up the Bride Quartet (which I'm loving!), so I'm kinda in the mood for less suspense.

message 46: by Jan (new)

Jan | 38 comments Hi Sarah,

I have not heard of that trilogy, just looked it up on Amazon, how did you like it, may you give me a description without being too specific so it is not a spoiler I made a mistake doing yesterday?

Is it more of a romance than a mystery? I like the mix of the two a lot:)

Thanks God Bless,
Jan

message 47: by Sara ♥ (new) - added it

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 36 comments It's a Nora Roberts 4-series about 4 friends who run a wedding business in Connecticut. One is the wedding planner, one is a photographer, one is the florist, and one is the cake/paste maker. The first book is Vision in White. They're just regular contemporary romances; no mystery element at all.

message 48: by Dalene (last edited Apr 24, 2015 12:21PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dalene | 34 comments These books "Bridal Quartet" are great! You will be able to identify with one or all of the characters.

Robyn Murphy (robynbeth) No housework this weekend because I just finished The Liar. I really enjoyed it.

Dalene | 34 comments I hear it is good. I just started this morning.
