i loved check and mate it was a super cute book imo it reads a little bit mature bc of the topics of virginity and sexuality which for one I loved the insert of Mal being bi and the reverse sexual experience in mc's... Did I care abt the pop culture references, No. Bc Ali Hazelwood writes smart and funny characters and i love that she teaches me things as I am reading. You don't have to kno chess to read this really.

oooo i read check & mate earlier this year and i actually loved it🤭 for some reason it made me feel really smart to be reading a romance about chess since i have no idea how to actually play. Ali Hazelwoods cute little romances are so good💞

I know I’m late but I kind of postponed this reading but this was one of my favorite re-readings ❤️ It was so TS coded almost everywhere and even she is credited, It was a cute romance I don’t know a lot of chess but seems like a tough world.
