**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**
Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊
I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.
Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.
PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉
School is good, busy but really good. I will be starting my practicum and then my internship next year.
MountainKat wrote: "Has anyone talked with Nancy? Just checking."Nancy sometimes stays off Goodreads for a few days at a time. I don't know how she manages it! I'll send her a message!.
Berit Talks Books wrote: "Laura, right! so April 13 is Saturday?"Yes. I think so.
A bunch of the independent bookstores in our area get together in the month of April, which includes Independent Bookstore Day, and do a book crawl. So I might be out driving to bookstores that day, depending on everyone's work schedules. 11 down, 8 more to go!
Im in central time zone. I know you’re all very familiar with one another but it’s been a while since I wrote about myself. I have 5 kiddos ages 14-30 and 6 grandkids. My middle daughter is in High School band and I’m VP of the band parent organization. I breed standard poodles and mini dachshunds. I also work full time as a special education coordinator and am a school psychologist. I think that about covers it
I am in SoCal. Mother of three kids 21–27, and my my first grandkid will be born in December. I also have two dogs and three cats. I am back in grad school right now to be a MFT.
Wow Berit, that’s awesome that you’re going to all to school! Of course being a grandmother is the best thing next to motherhood. BCBAs are in much demand, smart move to get into that field. Special Ed teachers are amazing and have the biggest hearts and lots of patience.
yeah she has jobs fighting over her and dropping into her lap. If I had patience for that field I would go into it, but I don't.
NancyMagaly wrote: "Of course being a grandmother is the best thing next to motherhood."It's way better than motherhood!! Except for the rare occasion, no middle of the night feedings and you can send them back to their parents when the visits are over. But it is like getting to love your babies all over again and that is pretty wonderful!
We have 4 currently with #5 expected in November! This one could be the hardest yet though - they moved to Georgia when #4 was not quite 2 years old. But at least I got some baby/toddler time with him after missing too much during Covid. The oldest grand will be 15 next month - time just keeps on flying!!
We will have the older 3 this weekend (9, 12 and almost 15) for day 2 of our annual 3 day Disney adventures!
Wow, Nancy - you are one busy lady! Sounds like you have an amazing family! As I told Berit in our other group thread, I am so anxious to be a grandma... I can see it on the horizon but alas, it's probably an illusion. I mean, I don't want to rush the soon-to-be newlyweds but, dangit, I want to love on some babies!!
Nancy, be sure to take a look at the task listhttps://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
The three of us know each other well, what we like to read, what we don't really like and what we refuse to read 😁 but since you've not played with us yet, we'll probably defer to you on some of the things that require us to collaborate as a team. But looking at the task list can give you an idea of what to expect.
And really, as much as I 'complain' about having a reading plan or not liking certain genres, I've been known to read anything needed for a challenge, so if you see me grumbling, just ignore it... or tell me to hush and go read!
I took a quick glance at the tasks. I should be good with all of them. I don’t like to read westerns, not a big fan of Gillian Flynn or Nicholas Sparks. I get scared with scary books but like Joe Hill, his dad, Stephen Ming, and others. Enjoy time travel , PNR, suspense, thrillers, mystery, historical fiction, romance, and contemporary

I love being a grandmother, but I can't act as one since my 14-year-old becomes jealous when she perceives me as giving my grandkids more attention than her. It's an ongoing thing.
Congrats on the newest soon-to-be arrival of grandbaby #5! Love carrying the babies and loving on them.

At least one of your boys is married!
I'm so jealous of all the grandmotherlyness!Nancy, in the past we have often used the team name Snakes on a Plane. Does that work for you, or do you have any other suggestions?
First Task - All Teams!Task 1 - Each teammate reads a book initially published in April of any year OR a book with flowers on the cover - teams decide. No pass for this task.
April showers bring May flowers. Or so the saying goes… It’s been mostly snow showers for us lately, though my daffodils are trying valiantly to bloom! As a team, decide if you are reading books initially published in April of any year OR books with flowers on the cover. (Please note that says ‘flowers’ - plural. Your book must have more than one flower on the cover to qualify.) If the team has decided on April for this task, you will be using the initial publication date - if there is a date at the top of the editions page USE IT! Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition of any format for the qualification. If the team has decided on flowers on the cover, you may use any edition’s cover to qualify your book. The qualifying cover must distinctly and clearly show more than one flower on the cover. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count. No pass for this task.
Flowers is my preference.Remember, it doesn't have to be the cover you are reading. There just has to be an edition with flowers on the cover, and then you have to link it in your completion post.
Berit Talks Books wrote: "I can't do flowers, we need to do April, kidding. Flowers is fine."You got me for a second. Good one! I guess April fools still works since it April.
NancyMagaly wrote: "Do we post here when we complete our book? I'm 80% done."Yes. You haven't done this challenge before, so I'll remind you to include page count in your post. You have to use the page count of the earliest Kindle edition. Earliest as in date, not as in top of the list. We've all used the wrong one before, so I thought I would put a reminder here for all of us. :)

Thank you! I'll try not to make the same mistake. So the earliest publication date that's found on the English Kindle edition.
NancyMagaly wrote: "So the earliest publication date that's found on the English Kindle edition."This is for page count. For publication dates, MKat wants us to use the date that is at the top of the page when you list all editions. GRs recently updated it so that that date is also displayed on the Main Page of the book.
So page count is the earliest Kindle edition, and publication date is always the earliest date, regardless of type of edition.
It took me several of MKat's challenges before I remembered these consistently!
I'm pretty sure I understand now. I'll use the date on the top for publication and for the page count use the earliest Kindle edition.
I think I'll have mine done tomorrow. I had to finish up a few books on my Kindle before I could turn on my WiFi and download my Flower book.
NancyMagaly wrote: "I'm pretty sure I understand now. I'll use the date on the top for publication and for the page count use the earliest Kindle edition."We'll probably all do it wrong at least once! :)
