fanfiction readers trying to read "real" books discussion

i have no idea how many of y’all are actively reading as of this post, but i wanted to ask for any books i could read as i ease myself back into reading published novels. a lot of the fanfic i read was very queer and/or non-normative (and also tended to be… explicit… aha…) and from what i have seen thus far it’s not the same in the published book world at all.

i did recently read loveless by alice oseman, but other than that i’ve been sampling books and borrowing from my local libraries. any and all recs would be appreciated!

I desperately need to go back to reading but my mental health can't really let me get into it; I'm too busy listening to music ahaha.
