The second and final book in this duology and I have to admit that I remember nothing of book 1! So I started reading this completely in the dark; mostly. I really didn't remember the characters or what happened in book 1. It went okay anyway. I loved the setting but didn't really care for the characters. It's a pretty hefty book so I got a little leery at the repetition of how such and such is a monster but he or she is not and they don't deserve this or that etc. I think with less romantic angst and mooore on the friendship (zumra is what this group is called) dynamics would make the read more palatable for me. I do want to revisit this world but maybe not with these characters.
