Dan | 1595 comments "The Quest of Iranon" is classified as a fantasy short story and was written on February 28, 1921. It was not published until 14 years later in the July/August 1935 issue of the magazine Galleon. It was later reprinted in Weird Tales in 1939.

The story is about a golden-haired youth who wanders into the city of Teloth, telling tales of the great city of Aira, where he was a prince. While Iranon enjoys singing and telling his tales of wonder, few people appreciate it. A city salon even orders Iranon to cease his singing and music and become apprenticed to a cobbler - or leave the city by sunset.

What's a young bard to do? I think we're going to have fun with this 9-page story this month.

Dan | 1595 comments I only just read this short story today. Last month's selection short storied me out for a while! I thought this one really good, written in less flowery fashion than some of Lovecraft's other work, but it had a strong plot with a subtle point for the reader to ponder. My review, such as it is: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
