Mandy Moody | 544 comments Can anyone recommend a good biography on General Robert E. Lee?
My husband is interested in reading one, and I'd really like to find a good one for him as a gift.
TIA!

Sara W (sarawesq) | 2153 comments That's a really good question, but I have no answer for you! My husband's from the south, but he's not much of a history reader, so I doubt he would know of any either (although he can tell me generally about the "War of Northern Aggression" :) ).

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 378 comments There are quite a lot of books about General Lee - I think in the field of Civil War studies there are only more books about Lincoln.

I have heard good things aboutRobert E. Lee A Biography, by Emory Thomas; Lee Considered General Robert E. Lee and Civil War History, by Alan Nolan; The Marble Man Robert E. Lee and His Image in American Society, by Thomas Connolly; and Robert E. Lee Icon for a Nation, by Brian Holden Reid.
