Categories open for nomination for June 2024 are:

Comedy and War & Travel

to help with choosing nominations, I have updated the threads containing the full list of books in each of these categories, showing which books have already been read - hopefully these are useful:

Comedy List

War & Travel List

so let's have those suggestions...

Christopher (Donut) | 271 comments Not seeing a lot of hilarity in the "comedy" list, but I will nominate

Jacques the Fatalist,

because I've already read most of it, and DO want to finish (if it is written up above..)

For Travel, I pick

Monkey: The Journey to the West

because all my other book buddies won't read an abridgement, but I will, and I have the e-book, and so there.

I've read that Waley translation/adaptation/abridgement of Monkey and thought it was excellent!
plus the picture for this edition is my actual copy, photo'd by my own fair hand:
Monkey The Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en

Mela (melabooks) | 94 comments I nominate:

Comedy: Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome

I can't decide which one to nominate this time in the War & Travel category, so I am not going to do it this time around.

Kat | 11 comments I’d love to read Death and the Penguin, but there’s a copy of Lanchester’s Debt to Pleasure on the book swap shelf at work so maybe I should start there.
