Did you like this book?

message 2: by Angela (new)

Angela Howard | 12 comments I am having a hard time getting into it, to be honest.

I had a hard time with this one! I forced myself to get through it but it was tough especially after the two previous books. Hopefully, the next book is better.

Sadly, this book was a DNF for me.

This month will be an interesting zoom call!

message 7: by T (new)

T | 16 comments Okay, I just received notification from the library that I have this book available to download.

I did not read the first in series, so am I going to be lost? Sounds like it might not matter! LOL

I am the worst though, I feel compelled to finish a book even if I do not like it. Kind of like there is going to be some glimmer of hope that something spectacular is going to happen! It never usually does and then I cuss at myself for wasting time! ....crossing fingers :)

message 8: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 12 comments I just reserved it from the library (I’m behind this month) but after hearing some of the comments… I may abort mission and skip to next month’s book. We leave Thursday to take our new rig down to the Keys and this does not sound like a vacation read. 🙈

Janet Steffen | 14 comments I am so glad I am hearing that all of you are having an "ish" experience with this book. I am listening to it and having a hard time deciphering. But that's why I love book clubs. Gets us out of our comfort zones.

message 10: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Hedrick | 5 comments This book was not available to me, so I am getting next months.

Wish I could get it on Libby but its too long of a wait, so I have it on hold at the Library. Glad I'm not traveling right now.

I am sorry you cant get this book but I am glad to see you are getting Julys book!

message 12: by Tami (new)

Tami Rossignol | 15 comments What is Julys Book?

message 13: by Shela (new)

Shela | 2 comments I finished the audio version yesterday. I enjoyed it, but I did have difficulty keeping up with who was who.

message 14: by T (last edited Jun 18, 2024 03:05PM) (new)

T | 16 comments I am about a quarter of the way through the book, reading, audio was not available. The book is not horrible and there is humor.

Saying this ALL self imposed...I feel like I have to read the book slow so I do not miss a clue!!! Watch, I won't even know who the heck it is in the end! LOL

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I feel like I have to finish the book whether I like it or not. I wish I had more time to read! This is just a different type of book and a new author than I am used to reading, which I believe is a good thing to mix it up a bit.

Regarding the future month's books, it was helpful since I am new to the group, that the books were listed in advance. Maybe an additional month in advance, would help those who want or need to reserve from a library due to wait times.

.....back to reading! :)

message 15: by CS (new)

CS | 3 comments I just finished it. I thought it was kind of fun. Am I the only one that liked it? I like how it pokes fun of who-dun-it books and the writing profession. I may go read his first book.

message 16: by Shela (new)

Shela | 2 comments I liked it. I enjoyed the 1st person point of view. I agree with you CS

message 17: by Tanya (new)

Tanya | 2 comments I had a hard time getting through the book but I did it I just don’t think it was for me

message 18: by Angela (new)

Angela Howard | 12 comments Agreed, Tanya

Same for me. I downloaded the free kindle sample and had zero interest in spending $13 to read the rest. Maybe I should have stuck with it but we were packing for our summer RV trip to Maine and time was limited. But I still plan to be on the call so I can hear what others thought in case I ever want to give it another go :)

message 20: by Tami (new)

Tami Rossignol | 15 comments FYI. I purchased the new book, The Heiress, and have started it already. Very promising!

message 21: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Driggers | 7 comments I don’t mean to sound like a complete crazy person, but I think I am missing how to get to the times for our book club discussions?? I do not see anything on my thread of Goodreads app. And I never see what the next book is going to be. I sent Stacy a message a while back and she told me where to find the book picks but undoubtedly my crazy self doesn’t know how to work this!! LOL HELP

message 22: by Tanya (new)

Tanya | 2 comments I purchased the book The Heiress which is the July pick but I haven’t started it yet because I have started another book and need to finish it first lol. Anxious to start it though I am hoping It will be more suited for me than the last.

message 23: by CS (new)

CS | 3 comments I just finished The Heiress last night. Loved it! I couldn’t put it down!

message 24: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 12 comments Hi, all. I was having trouble getting The Heiress at my local library…but discovered it was included with Kindle unlimited if anyone is having the same trouble borrowing the book. :) Happy reading!

message 25: by Tami (new)

Tami Rossignol | 15 comments Really enjoying the Heiress. About done! Easy, hard to put down read!

message 26: by Diane (new)

Diane Papavero | 17 comments This book took a while to get going with the story. The beginning was a tough read for me. Once the 1st murder occurred, then the pace of the book picked up and it was an easier read. Overall, l enjoyed it.

Hey Brenda! You are not missing anything. Our book club discussions with the TIS community happen right here. We do have a book club zoom meeting for each book for crew members. If you'd like to learn more about that, head on over to the website.

message 29: by Tami (new)

Tami Rossignol | 15 comments On the Heiress… finished today. Mostly enjoyed the book… looking forward to the book club discussions. When does that take place on here? Is there a special time?

message 30: by Janet (new)

Janet Steffen | 14 comments Juts finished The Heiress as I started it in audible. Despite the cursing ( I can never figure out why) it kept me captivated. I figured some things out before the end, but SHHHH I'll be quiet.

message 31: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Hendricks | 1 comments Started my copy and must admit almost put it down to the amount and specific curse words. Personally just don't care for that language. Will try a few more pages but I may have to just put it down and wait for the next book.

message 32: by Angela (new)

Angela Howard | 12 comments I think easier to hear ( listening to audio book) cuss words than see them in print. Agree is not necessary, but in the story with Ruby's southern drawl and the time period, the cuss words are kind of her liberation in some way. I do get what you are saying here, though.

message 33: by Angela (new)

Angela Howard | 12 comments I commented on the wrong book here. Oops

message 34: by T (new)

T | 16 comments Alright, back to this book. I was highjacked by The Heiress! LOL

message 35: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1 comments This book was ok. Too many characters and not enough character development. It was light reading and funny in parts. Maybe a movie would be better? I’d do the audiobook but I just didn’t like the book that much.
