Book Club+ MPC discussion

Hi everyone,

If you are joining us for "Mercury" by Amy Jo Burns, we are now at Chapter 3. If you would like share, what are your thoughts about this book so far?

Chapter 3
Reflecting back, Marley and her mother first came to Mercury in 1990 from Ohio. She had noticed men working on a roof. Soon, came across a pickup baseball game and realized these were the same men working on the roof that were on the baseball team. It also seemed uncommon for the brothers to fight with each during a game, even if they were on the same team. Marley attempted to break up the fight, but was stopped by Mrs. Joseph. This was Marley's first glimpse of Baylor and Waylon Joseph. She accepted a ride from them back to her apartment. Marley watched as she saw Mrs. Joseph handle her boys. Elise Joseph introduced herself to Marley. Baylor Joseph was the first Joseph brother to have the confidence to get to know her and pursue her.

Marley and her mom had moved to Mercury and their first encounter was advertisements of the Joseph brothers roofing. Marley saw the brothers during a baseball pickup game. She saw Baylor and Waylon Joseph. Baylor pursued her first, not Waylon? Marley also met Mrs. Joseph, Elise. She seemed to be the one in charge of her boys in keep them in control. Where was Mr. Joseph? Baylor was determined to get to know Marley quickly in a romantic way. Does Marley feel the same way about him? Her life in Mercury is moving quickly, can Marley keep up with the confidence of the Joseph boys? What will the Joseph family think of her when they meet her?
